“Great location and suites!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel in August 2012 for three days.
The hotel is conveniently located at the boarder of Old Montreal, right beside the Nort' Dame , right across from the convention center, 5 min walk from China town, 20 min walk from downtown Montreal. Self Parking was convenient.
Breakfast buffet was awesome for the price you pay, large selection of various cold/hot dishes. The only thing is that if you go during a busy weekend, you might want to get up early for breakfast or else it'll be hard to find a table.
The suites were brilliant, very classy and clean. Two TVs (one inside the bedroom and one out in the living room). The kitchen was very well equipped, we didn't use it once but I can see that it'd be very useful for a family who want to do some minor cooking at the hotel.
Staff was pretty quick to check us in.
Elevators sometimes took a while to come but we are fairly patient people so not a lot of complaints here.
highly recommended and would stay here again next time.

My colleague's and I stay here every year for a convention at the Palais de Congres every year as it is directly across the street. Great customer service, decent food and the Embassy Suites free breakfast and 2 free drinks at happy hour is always a pleasure! Have to say that Rafael, the bartender, is amazing and deserves a raise! We love him...his customer service during the crazies at happy hour was exceptional, you definitely have to have the right person to put up with free drink for 2 hours. We love the suites - nice and roomy, feels like home and lots of room to spread out and to have people over. Unless the location of the show changes, this will continue to be our go-to! Great neighborhood to walk around - all the old buildings and amibiance of the restaurants and shops...Love it!

Have stayed there several times during past 4-5 years, since it was launched.

Nice to have good size rooms, a separate bedroom and living room (with a kitchen).

A small hotel, ok location, ok staff.
Nothing extra special, except the rooms are very roomy and comfortable.

For short turn arounds or longer stay biz trips, easily recommendable!

Rooms are a good size for stretching out, but again they are suites. Nice size fridge/freezer in the full size kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and great pillows.

Location was decent and not too far from Old Montreal and Chinatown. The Metro is close by, and downtown is a short cab ride or walk even. The happy hour is great (2 free drinks per night per guest - book in as 2 adults even if you're solo). Staff was attentive and helpful.

As our go to place when in Montreal we made the decision to splurge on the Presidents Suite for our 20th Anniversary. At a price of $800 and up we were disappointed in what we got. In comparison a one bedroom suite at the Ritz on their club floor at comparable cost was much nicer and came with more personalized services and amenities and a much more luxurious room.

The president’s suite here is very spacious but also very simply decorated, for the price and name one would expect a more style luxurious suite. The bedroom has a seating area in front of the fireplace, while the en-suite features a Jacuzzi tub large enough for two!

There is also a full kitchen, however the dining area furniture resembled the entire suite in which we found the furnishings to be very plain and of the cheaper variety and certainly not what one would expect from a presidential suite.

Also what is with the exposed cement pillar in the middle of the main room? It is apparent that no real effort was put into design, decoration and quality of the so called presidential suite!

Our biggest beef is with the change in management in the food and beverage department!
Breakfast is a total disaster. The food table now only allows for one line which creates absolute chaos as people push and butt in to get at the food.

On the particular day we were there an hour before breakfast ended the buffet dishes sat empty.

We inquired of the staffs and then waited for more food to be brought out. As soon as the small quantity of food was brought out there was a rush of patrons who promptly emptied the dishes leaving a number of us looking at empty pans. Again we inquired of the staffs. This time they pointed at the clock and indicated that breakfast hour was over in twenty minutes so no more food was being cooked. We were told this was orders of the new food and beverage manager…….
We left the hotel and went out for breakfast at additional cost to ourselves.

The complimentary breakfast at this property is apparently only of benefit to those that arrive early and not with in the appointed time frame as advertised!

The evening manager’s reception has also changed in a big way. Do not try and sit down for so much as two minutes before 5:30 PM as staffs will rudely refuse to accept your coupon and serve you always indicating “new management rules”.

Drinks are also more coupons. Whereas previously drinks were only a single coupon, now many drinks are two plus coupons.

The previous food and beverage manager James understood the value of being in the “hospitality business” and was very hands on often getting behind the bar himself to help out and always making sure guests were happy and promptly served.

Under the new Food and beverage manager we were to observe a hands off manager who now sits in a chair and just barks out orders to staffs who rush about and customers sit with empty glasses.

It became obvious that profits before guest satisfaction is the goal of the new F & B management…… and in the end it may get him promoted for his cost savings measures to the company, albeit at the expense of loyal guests.

Our experience with the restaurant indicates not only unhappy guests but frustrated staffs and that is certainly not a marker for continued customer satisfaction.

Unless this property gets with the program of being in the hospitality industry we will be re thinking this property as our go to hotel for stays in Montreal!

Although this hotel is well located, walking distance to Old Montreal, it is just average. Checked in at 4 pm and they had no room for me. Had to wait 1/2 hour to get a room. When I finally got a room, and went upstairs they keys did not work so had to go all the way back down for a set of new keys. Staff was very courteous, which was appreciated. Second try with the keys (accompanied by Bell Boy) also did not work, so we had to use his master key. They promptly delivered a new working set, but still all these hiccups were not a good first impression. The room was clean, had full kitchen and fireplace. Request for a bath robe was promptly answered. It is good value including Internet and buffet breakfast in the morning, so if you're not fussy, then it's OK. If you like the finer things in life, then there are plenty of nicer hotels in Montreal.

The hotel is very central. We got an upgrade due to construction work on the side our room would have been. Much appreciated. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable. Once in our room the hotel was quiet despite teams of young gymnasts running around. Great jacuzzi, great shower and peaceful sleep. The free breakfast is great but I was disappointed that every day the food was just lukewarm. It would be so easy to rectify. This is my only observation and did not interfere with a wonderful break in Montreal.
