“Best B&B in Montreal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

My husband and I really loved our stay here. The house is historic and the rooms are beautifully renovated. Big comfy bed w/good linens, flat-screen TV, wood floors. And clean - we have never stayed in a B&B better-kept than this one. It is close walking to 2 metro stations, centrally located, in a neighborhood both colorful and eclectic (and once you are near the B&B, all quiet). There are many cafes and restaurants. Even a Starbucks (which you never will need because the breakfasts are complete and amazing; we had "Croque Madame" one morning that was soooo good)! Our host Alain was the best - very approachable and had many helpful suggestions when we were planning our way around Montreal. It was handy to use the internet on the computer in the common room too. Top-notch all around, would definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 1 and Room 5 both very nice (#1 is slightly bigger & more private as its on 2nd floor) &...

The place is very aesthethic, well kept and clean. The host was extremely attentive, remembering even how we like our juice and coffee every morning. Breakfast was of superb quality - highly recommended! There is a real feeling of "home away from home".

There’s a lot of choice in Montreal – loads of good places to stay, especially in the b and b category – and I really trawled through the options. I was delighted that Alexandre Logan was everything I had hoped for. One of the best things about the place is Alain – the owner and manager. He is a charming, helpful man, who will give you as much guidance as you need but leave you in peace when you want that too. On arrival he went through maps with us, helping us to get orientated. We really felt at home and would certainly want to go back to stay there if we returned to Montreal.

The second great thing is the breakfasts. Every day there was something different and it wasn’t the kind of fat laden affair breakfasts can be. Each was terrifically well balanced, always starting with fruit. Mains usually had tomatoes or cucumber or both on the side. On successive days we had bacon, avocado and coriander on toasted bagels; warm croissant stuffed with braised peppers, tomatoes and onions; a smoked salmon and caper omelette; croque ‘madame’, basically a ham and cheese toastie with an egg on top. Juices were lovely, coffee was abundant. We rarely needed lunch.

Lastly there’s the bedrooms. We chose the largest and it was indeed lovely (and looked the best option on the website). However, we got a look at all the bedrooms when they were unoccupied and every one of them is good. They vary in size but none are too small and some are in fact brighter and more airy than the large one for which we opted. There is antique furniture in all the rooms and quality bedspreads.

There’s a very useful main living room where guests can use a computer and lounge around. There’s also a fridge in here where you can keep drinks or food, and there are facilities for making tea or coffee. Off this lounge, just outside, there is a pretty terrace with chairs and a table where you can have a drink or read. Indeed Alain is perfectly happy for you to buy picnic ingredients and eat these here for lunch or dinner.

The b and b is very well placed for the metro (there are two nearby). The immediate neighbourhood (on the edge of the gay village) isn’t fancy but is homely, largely residential and safe.

On-line booking was efficient and there was very good communication with Alain before we got there. He runs a tight and happy ship.

To be honest, we missed the place after we left.

Room Tip: They're all good and actually are better in real life than they look on the website

My wife and I had a great stay at Alain's B&B (room #2). Wonderful breakfasts, comfortable accomodations and short walk to the Beaudry subway station made it easy for us to explore Montreal. Highly recommended.

We stayed two nights at this location, and the building itself was quite nice. The outdoor shower was enjoyed. It's in the gay village about a block away from a strip of restaurants and bars. The rooms were very beautiful and clean, the nicest we stayed in on our vacation. The breakfasts are very healthy, and may not be suited for children's palates.

Stayed two nights and it was everything my boyfriend and I needed. Central location two blocks to all the bars and restaurants of Rue Saint Catherine. We used the Bixi bikes just down the block one day and it was so easy and convenient!

Breakfast was delicious and quick for getting us out and into the city early. We stayed in room 2 which had plenty of space, a renovated bathroom, and great terrace which we took advantage of. My one dislike was the furnishings were a bit old for my personal taste (a 20-something) but it fit the B&B theme well and most importantly the entire place was spotlessly clean.

We will definitely return as I can't imagine finding a better location and value!
