“Great museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

The Lachine museum is a rare find in a beautiful area of Lachine. Not only is the museum well laid out and great for kids and adults, but there is also a beautiful walking as well as biking path through Lachine. This is right on the Lake and is so picturesque! To the west it will bring you to Dorval and if you go east you can travel right down to Old Montreal. Along the biking and walking paths there are picnic tables for picnics and benches to just sit back and enjoy the lake. You can see the boats going through the canal from here and watch the traffic on the Mercier Bridge. It is peaceful and quiet.

“Ipad Mini makes the story come alive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We visited the Fur Trade Museum on the last day it was open for the season (Sept. 2) and spent about an hour and a half there. The displays are very well done and I think this would be a very good hands on attraction for children. Something new this year is the complementary use of an interpretive story on an ipad mini. Just leave your ID and they will let you use one. There are about 15 steps to follow in the story line of the Voyageurs on the St. Lawrence river and Great Lakes. The short videos at the end of the museum story are also very interesting, telling the story of the important of the fur trade today and the making of fur garments. Admission cost was under $8 for 2 adults. We also visited the nearby Lachine Canal Museum.

“Awesome interpreters, great museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

This museum is an awesome jam packed gem that presents information for both adults and children in an entertaining way. This is a very hands on museum where you can learn much about the fur trade that Canada was founded on. They also have a tablet guide that works very well. The interpreters are very friendly and happily provided more information and even a REAL beaver hat to handle. It was a wonderful experience.

The museum can be difficult to find so check the maps closely. Next time we will rent bikes at Atwater and bike along the Lachine Canal.

“Wrong location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

The map shows the wrong location. If it tells you to go to St. Joseph and Brebeuf do not go there. Google the correct location and call for hours first.

“much better than anticipated”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We thought we would be in and out in a few minutes but greatly enjoyed our stop thanks to the excellent tour guide. He really made the past history of Montreal come alive for us; we learned all sorts of interesting facts and saw an actual beaver felt hat, very different from what we think of as felt today.
