“One of the best Japanese Shabu shabu restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

Everytime I visit Montreal, this place is a must. It is very conveniently location on the main street of Chinatown which is close to everything in Montreal. The meat is always fresh and I love their chicken soup for cooking the meat. Their portions are very generous with both meat and lots of vegetable. Love to cook the japanese noodle n the soup and even drink the soup at the end of the dinner. The standard meal also come with amazing dipping sauces and a great cup of Japanese coffee. Price it is a steal! Less than $20 per person for a really nice fulfiling dinner. Lunch is even cheaper. Nice seating even great for family travelling with young kids like me.

“My kids LOVE this place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

I am a big fan of Japanese food in general (except Oden and Natto) and introduced my family to shabu shabu last year when our favorite teppanyaki place was booked up for a private party. While the concept did not garner excitement (vs the "show" of teppanyaki) the real thing was an instant hit.
They loved that they had control over when / how / what to cook and that everything was so delicious. The Japanese staff are super friendly and the kids loved hearing my (poor at this point) Japanese conversation. They really felt like they got trip to Japan out of it! Every morsel gobbled up including the veggies (udon and meat clearly preferred though!) and for a family of 4 a totally reasonable night out.
Afterwards we wandered into some of the curio shops and they each got to chose a $2 max souvenir. Now they want to go every few weeks and it has become something of a tradition.
One week we were lucky enough to even see a Japanese TV crew filming at the restaurant as part of a "visit Quebec" segment involving a Quebecoise bravely trying to eat slippery udon noodles from the pot!
The place is generally quick and service friendly. We are heading back this weekend!

I love this place, I order Beef Fondue with spicy broth, It was really Spiced but I liked on that way. .. the beef is a very good quality one, it melted on my mouth! For sure I going to come back soon.

The resto in on the middle of the China town, a little bit hide because is on the second floor but not too hard to find.

“Japanese Fondue...different and yummy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

This place is cool. Located in the little china, the tables are basically in a rather large U shape seating around 15 guests and each place has its own integrated fondue boiler and you choose your broth, you meat, vegetables and fish (very nice diversity and very fresh) and basically boil them. So it is ery casual, young asian crowd, music is ok (at least, there is some compared to most restos in the area) and the staff is nice.

I suggest you to take the large plates if you have a normal size appetite as otherwise you will re-order extra. And that increase the cost quickly. You can count 30 dollars per head including a glass of wine. So not that cheap when you look at the overall restaurant (this is NOT chic) but overall the experience is kind of fun.

Children are welcome but better if in age to manage their own cooking (my 5 years old is used to fondue cooking so had no issue).

Better to reserve and to park indoor as parking is an issue.
