5 of us girls stayed at D&D's B&B, but we took the whole place as a "vacation home" instead of individual rooms with breakfast. That being said, we wouldn't have had it any other way!

Our group was there for 5 nights, but I was personally there for 3 nights.

Dorothy gave a great "orientation", and we had free run of the beautiful B&B and kitchen and deck (or favorite spot) and LOVED every room of the house. The deck had a comfy seating area, gorgeous landscaping/flowers, and we even had an herb garden we could use to cook! We said more than once that we felt like we were staying at a friend's parents' vacation home, not an inn (complete with Dorothy reminding us to use the special make-up towels so as not to ruin the white towels, like any Mom would do!). We loved cooking meals in the kitchen, and it was a short walk from the Atwater Market and the Place St-Henri Metro stop. We went downtown every day and night! The convenience to the Metro was key.

As a vacation home, this 4-bedroom, 3-bath walkup is definitely worth a look. We saved money by not booking it B&B style, knowing we would take up the whole place anyways. Each bedroom has individual locks, and the place is very secure with a deadbolt on the main door; D&D live next door, so you always have watchful neighbors as well. We left the bedrooms unlocked since we booked the whole place.

Tip the housekeeper, because the place is immaculate. She made our beds daily even though we were renting it as a vacation home. Just beautiful. The bedrooms with attached baths have showers, but they are very spacious, and the two rooms with the large bathroom upstairs have a huge claw-footed tub, special bath salts, and the bathrobes were brand-new and so soft.

I will warn you that there are steep stairs to go up to the B&B, as well as another set of stairs to the upstairs bedroom. I know that a traveler with difficulty climbing stairs would NOT want to stay here, but for a group of twenty-something girls we LOVED the place!

  • Liked — The deck!
  • Disliked — It was hard for the taxi driver to find... remember the cross-streets for directions!

Management response from Dorothy Kryworuchko, Owner

D&D's B&B has finally closed it's doors. We are no longer accepting reservtions for B&B guests. After 7 wonderful years as B&B hosts, wonderful memories, fabulous guests, and great friendships have evolved. Thank you to all that have visited our home. Take care! Cheers, David and Dorothy

D and D's is a beautiful bed and breakfast in Montreal. Although it is more expensive than we are used to (compare France!), we had an impeccable stay. and it costs much less than a good Montreal hotel! Points to consider: the superb breakfast, friendly welcome, beautiful terrace/deck (perfect for sitting out in the evening), fine use of plants and flowers, the careful renovation and attractive furnishings. A quiet, peaceful and unexpected haven in that part of Montreal (which is mostly residential). One caveat: there is a very steep staircase (two if you are in the upper level of the house) by which you reach your room!

  • Liked — The beauty of it!
  • Disliked — The stairs (left our luggage in our car because it was too heavy!)

We had a really lovely time at this B&B. It is a little bit outside of the city but if you buy a tourist three day pass you can travel everywhere around Montreal for $17 by Metro (super deal). 5 minute walk to the station. Its allows you to see much more of the city instead of the usual touristy areas that people tend to stay in. The B&B is beautiful and cozy. Dorothy and David are wonderful hosts who love to take great care of their guests and you feel like they truly love what they do. The white pristine towels felt like I was the first person to use them. The cleanliness was outstanding. Bed was super comfortable. The rooms are separate from the main house so you don't feel you are getting in the way of the owners. You see Dorothy and her friendly staff in the morning for the delicious breakfast and then the place is yours for the day and night. I would definitely recommend this B&B as we had a really lovely time here and would go back in a heartbeat!!! Cheers!

Our stay at D&D was great! No complaints at all. Location was ideal- so close to the train station. Note we are not French Speaking which was potentially a troublesome issue. No worries, this is an English speaking Inn in the English speaking part of town. This is a fantastic deal for what you pay!
