My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend. The location is great - west side of Old Montreal so not in the middle of the tourist rush, close to Queen Victoria metro, a bike station one block away, several great bars/restaurants within a couple blocks, etc. The industrial design of the hotel is just my style, though some of the furnishings need to be updated, like the 90s style contemporary sofas in the lobby. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and it was wonderful to be upgraded to a junior suite. I also loved the magazine selection in our room.
My only quibble comes with the communication from the front desk staff. They are certainly very friendly and responded readily to our questions, but I found a few things odd:
One: they asked for a credit card for incidentals, but didn't say they were going to charge a $300 deposit. I found this out today when checking my credit card statement. I even think she said we wouldn't be charged anything. I know this will go away, of course.
Two: I wish they'd told us about the wifi and iPad loaner at checkin. My husband found the tiny paper with the wifi login in our key card envelope on day 3. And we learned about the iPad loaner while looking at the website after our stay. In fact, at one point, we asked to use a computer but were told they didn't have one for us. Strange.
Three: there was no mention of the "media library" or the "fitness center" on their website. It would have been nice to know how to access each.
Without literature explaining these things in the room, it's essential that the front desk staff tell you at check in.
