Montreal has to be one of my favorite cities in Canada and during our fifth visit we decided to give Hotel Nelligan a try. We only stayed one night en route to a whale watching cruise and arrived quite late. Hotel staff were very friendly and check-in was quick and efficient. We had booked the rate which included breakfast and parking and it was great to have the car taken care of as there aren't too many parking spots in the old part of the city. Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed. I loved the exposed brick walls! The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in for a while. Our room was on the second floor and facing the atrium so there was a bit of noise in the morning when breakfast service started but nothing too significant.
Breakfast was basic but sufficient to get us through the morning. What I loved most about this hotel was the excellent location. Even though we arrived late we were able to just step out of the hotel and wander through Old Montreal. There is a jazz bar (Le Piano Rouge) just a few steps down the street where we enjoyed some drinks and excellent live music and then we could just stroll back to the hotel for a good night's sleep.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and can't wait to come back!
