“Everything is good :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013 via mobile

Staffs, rooms, everything was great :)
Since it is in front of a bar, the night sleep was disturbed. However the hotel staffs took care of it really quick and I got ear plugs.
This is nothing about hotel but if its weekend and and the room is located on the St. Paul street, it's better to know the sounds proof does not work do much.

Hotel its self was just great and staffs are really really helpful.
The night problem, Mr.Eric helped us:)

The location to cruising AML and all nice places are waking distance ;)

We just returned from a 7-night stay at the Hotel Nelligan. The hotel itself is a treat. The staff are competent, friendly and helpful- without exception. The concierge was terrific. She helped us arrange our dinners at great places well before we arrived, we booked a trip to Quebec City, she insisted we visit the Botanical Gardens (and boy was she right!), etc etc. Our room was a junior suite. Very nice and quiet, although the bathroom was a little small for two people but of course this is common in such old buildings. The location is perfect- restaurants, bars, events, night life all in walking distance.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in August and we would recommend it. The struggle we had was with the image: the hotel is really too big to be a boutique hotel yet it doesn't quite manage to be a luxury hotel, although the prices/services border on it.
We visited at the height of the tourist season. The hotel was packed, and the staff showed great efficiency in checking us in and out, fixing the safe (the batteries were dead upon our arrival), suggesting places to visit, etc. Bravo.
The first evening we ate on the top floor - a great view of Montreal and perfect for watching sunsets. It was very crowded, the tables are tight, yet the service was friendly and the food was modern and good. A piece of advice to the manager: the waitress accidentally spilled my husband drink due to a wobbly table. No stains, she was very apologetic, we made nothing of it (and it really was nothing), but a hotel of this standing should have "comped" to drink: peanuts for them and not much money for us either, but the gesture would have gone a long way.
Which brings us to the room - again very comfortable, very beautiful with a big shower, all the amenities, an enormous, comfortable big, beautiful stone walls, etc. Yet for the luxurious feeling, it didn't quite make it. For example the water faucet was installed too close to the sink so we couldn't turn on the water fully. Another example is the breakfast, which is a fine buffet but rather ordinary for a hotel of this standing and at the price you pay. Buttering it up just a little bit would go a long way.
Finally the location: perfect. Right in the middle of old Montreal near Notre Dame Cathedral and the port. You couldn't do better.

Room Tip: Rooms higher up and on the St. Sulpice side on quieter.

We booked 4 nights here for our 10th anniversary in a king superior room. We did a prepaid reservation with Travelocity.
The hotel is very nice. Great location. Terrific bar downstairs and on terrace.

However I think we were given the worst room in our class of room. You would think they could have done better given the reason for our stay.

The sad little room we were in had little light and no view. It was next to the public bathroom for the terrace restaurant and bar. The bathroom was adequate, but only a shower no double jacuzzi tub. The room needed repair. The carpet wasn't laid properly and there was a ridge from the foot of the bed to the bath which you tripped in at night. The rain shower had a slight leak and chirped all night.
What could have been a flawless visit to Montreal which we would repeat was sooo disappointing! Management should be more aware!

There is a lot to like about the Nelligan.

It is very much a boutique hotel with a rather luxurious feel. It is ideally located in Old Montreal and it is an absolute delight to wander straight out into the narrow streets and explore the shopping and dining opportunities. The hotel is a very modern re-creation in an older building and the new decor really works. The rooms are really well presented with an excellent bed and shower/bathroom and overall facilities with the feature brick wall being an outstanding feature. There is an excellent sound system which I found to be wonderful for background jazz!

Some rooms face onto an atrium style central void which gives a nice window perspective but can also make the room a little dark because of the need to close the blinds. However, there are excellent lighting options which contribute to giving the room a comfortable and relaxing ambience.

There is an inviting outdoor Terrace Bar and Restaurant on the top floor. We enjoyed a really great lunch on a beautiful day with excellent service and really good food and wine by the glass. It was very hard to leave! The main bar adjacent to the Entry Foyer is also a nice spot for pre-dinner drinkies and the complimentary drink voucher is a nice touch.

The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient and really compliment the overall package.

It is worth noting that the ground floor bar, the internal atrium and the Terrace Bar can be a bit noisy if your room overlooks the atrium. Sounds seems to rise even though the rooms seem to be well sound proofed! This is not a major issue if you are an inner city person and accustomed to the the sounds of the city however if this is not your scene there are rooms which are a little more secluded.

However, my overall impression is that this is a very classy hotel with excellent presentation and it "feels" like a nice place to stay. The staff and facilities complement this feeling and the "Terrace" is not to be missed on a sunny summer afternoon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the atrium if the sounds of the city are not for you.

Superb hotel with excellent location at a good spot in the old city. Excellent food and concierge staff (Melissa, Nathalie and Maude) who were exceedingy knowledgable. Easy to access museums and botanical gardens on foot or by Metro.

A nice "regular" cozy room with a view court. I love the decoration and also a lot of small details in my room , details who make the difference as the music and the tv set with jazz music at the entrance, the iPhone table , the very good quality of the beauty products in the bathroom . Also the paintings exhibition in the lobby and in the corridor. The staff was also very professional and welcoming.
A nice address to remember
