“Great Hotel at a Perfect Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2011

Older, grand hotel. Clean, spacious rooms that were well decorated. High ceilings with artwork in every room and hallways. Friendly, helpful staff. Price was very reasonable. Walking distance to everything.
Looking for a picky negative? Expensive valet parking(would be the same anywhere in Montreal). Breakfast buffet was expensive, a good reason to walk to a zillion close by restaurants.
Loved our trip to Montreal and would not hesitate to return to this wonderful hotel. If you get a good price, jump on this place.

Usually stay closer to Ste Catherine Street when in Montreal so this was new location and it worked very well. It is at west end of Old Montreal so a reasonable walk to shopping on Ste Catherine St or Place des Arts ( just under 15 minutes) and of course easy exploring of Old Montreal to the east. The hotel staff were great -welcoming and helpful at all times. Nice ambience - from cosy lobby to lovely rooms with dark wood and high ceilings. From my view , the lobby works just great with small front desk and very comfortable lounge- neither cramped nor oversized. Continental breakfast in small dining was very pleasant. Caution- breakfast options in neighborhood are limited ( Eggspecations is two minute walk but not much else beyond coffee shops ) so judge your self accordingly. Room rate made this very good value.
Negatives - some finishes need a small bit of work ( emphasis on small) and coffee seemed to be hard to come by in the evening with little available in neighbour hood and no in room coffee maker. On the plus side there was hot coffee in the lobby in the mornings- nice if this was available in the evening.
Bottom line - a very nice inn , do not hesitate.

Fiancé took me here for surprise trip. He booked the hotel himself and I am usually pretty picky. The hotel is just north of Notre dame church and we could hear the church bells from our room, we stayed in the Robert Motherwell suite. We walked everywhere from our hotel which was awesome. The service was friendly and good. Hotel was minorly run down in certain respects, for example paint in the hallways had been touched up from noticeable peeling. Otherwise very clean and nice. Our linens were really high quality and nice towels and robes, bed was really comfortable. I would go back for sure, especially for the location.

My husband and I stayed for the 2nd time at this wonderful hotel in October 2011. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly, pleasant, knowledgable and professional. Our room was huge and included a mini refrigerator. The breakfast is a good way to start the day and also to save a few dollars. The hotel is located in the financial district which is right next to the "old town" and port. If you enjoy walking, you can see most of the sites by walking or the underground (subway) is also a good way to get around the town. If we return to Montreal, we would definitely stay again at the LHotel.

Very nice hotel in Old Montreal. Not as luxurious as some in the neighborhood but at a much more reasonable price. Beautiful high ceilings, very clean, staff were very accommodating. I would happily stay here again.

We stayed at LHotel for a week in early October. The hotel is lovely--though the entrance is a little funky. The staff members are so friendly and seem to really enjoy their jobs. We enjoyed the bar at night after dinner, and we enjoyed the breakfast (which came with our room). The breakfast is continental but includes both boiled and deviled (!) eggs, ham, wonderful cheeses, delicious pastries, as well as the usual cereal, bagels, fruit, etc. The breakfast area is quite nice and the service impeccable.

We stayed in a king junior suite (room 412). The room is really large, as is the bathroom. It was well appointed and comfortable . We even had two full length mirrors. Our only complaint with the room and bath was that they were rather dark. We were down at the end of the hall, and we heard nothing from neighboring rooms. Sometimes we heard a door slam, but that was all--except for the lovely bells from nearby Notre Dame Basilica.

We thought the location was the best. We wanted to be in Old Montreal and were concerned that the hotel was not really "in" the area. After walking around Old Montreal, we were really glad we had chosen LHotel instead of some of the others we had considered because of the congestion in that Old Montreal area. The area around our hotel was quiet, only a couple of short blocks from wonderful restaurants and the old part of the city.

Would we recommend this hotel? Absolutely!

The LHotel exceeded our expectations from the minute we arrived at the front and were greeted by the doorman and escorted us to the front desk. the staff upgraded our room to a beautiful suite. We were able to valet park our car at a convenient parking garage and walk to restaurants and sights in Old Montreal City. The staff was helpful and polite and the downstairs lounge was a great spot to unwind with a nightcap at the end of a busy day.
