“good coffee and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

This is a great place to go for coffee. It's a nice space, and serves really yummy scones and croissants. We first had our lattes with scones, but as we were leaving, the croissants were coming out of the oven, so of course, we needed to get those too. They were flaky and light, just so good. It's worth it just to come here for a beverage if you're walking by, but if you have time to sit, it's that's more enjoyable.

“Real deal coffee house in Montreal. Worth the 20 min walk from Old Montreal.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

Whenever I travel, I do significant research to find local coffee shops for 1) their quality coffee and skillful preparation and 2) to get a feel for the culture of the city (read the event/message boards, etc.

We were staying in Old Montreal, but Pikolo's website drew me to visiting the shop. It was well worth the 20 min walk, and it was nice to see glimpses of Downtown and China Town along the way. Just two doors down from Pikolo there is a really nice paper and art supply store that is also worth a visit.

Pikolo did not disappoint. It is more rustic in feel, and they are true baristas preparing your beverages. I must also mention that they had some of the tastiest, inventive cookies and pastries I have seen at a coffee shop. I am attaching a photo of a granola type bar that has apple and apricot in the middle (it tastes like a cross between a fruit bar and a coffee cake - seriously delicious and perfect with a warm beverage).

Independent coffee magazines line the wall by the barista station. Bathrooms and free wifi make this a well rounded, worthwhile stop on your Montreal holiday.
