“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

My wife and I have been to Montreal a number of times and this was our first stay at St-Suplice. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. The service at the hotel is superb. The staff is very helpful, recommended two great restaurants, and was always professional and friendly. The location is fantastic. We look forward to returning.

We stayed here on June 25-28 prior to a cruise. Excellent location in Vieux Montreal behind the Notre Dame Basilica. Our suite was fantastic and we really enjoyed the fast and delicious room service on more than one occasion. This hotel is great for just about everyone. There is an IGA superstore market less than a 15 minute walk which has everything you would want if you are on a budget or have picky eaters in your group-the only thing missing is an oven but with the 2 burner cooktop you can make great breakfasts. This hotel was wonderful in that they had a full service restaurant, room service and the ability to use the kitchenettes!
The only hiccup we had was that the in room safe was not working and even after 2 requests no one came to replace the batteries(which is all it needed) Otherwise service was excellent. I would definitely stay here again and this is the only hotel I would consider should I be fortunate enought to return to Montreal.

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor and our room faced St. Paul street. It was very quiet and we were there at...

We had a fantastic dinner on the outdoor courtyard of the Sinclair restaurant. It's one of the hidden jems of Old Montreal. The food was very very good. The atmosphere in that courtyard is serene and feels exclusive. The room was big and and the bed very comfortable. Romantic view of the streets of Old Montreal. We would definitely return again for another special occasion.

Fantastic location near the old port and within walking distance of shops on St Catherine's (if you are an avid walker). The rooms are very spacious and have great modern amenities in the rooms. The staff treat were very attentive and willing to take care of every detail.

Overall this is a place we'd gladly recommend to our friends. It's location is ideal for a visit to Old Montreal. Room was nice and service very good. Concierge most helpful. We had a very enjoyable meal on the outdoor terrace. On the not-so-good side, we needed the pull-out chesterfield as a second bed, but once it was made up as a bed it stayed that way and we had no use of the chesterfield from then on - a surprise in a hotel of this quality. The basement dining room we found not very attractive - it seemed more like a college dining hall with its regimented tables. The TV would have benefited from some sort of directory. Would we stay here again? Gladly.

My girlfriend, sister, and her fiance stayed at le Saint Sulpice for the Montreal Grand Prix. I found it a nice touch that the owners put out some checkered flags on the building to welcome us. Having only been to Montreal twice, I cannot truly compare it to other hotels in the city, however, if I compare St. Sulpice to other hotels I've been to in the United States and abroad, I can say this has to be one of the nicest! The rooms were beautiful! Coffee makers, electric fireplace, large bath tub, flat screen TV & plenty of sitting room makes for a truly enjoyable experience. The french door window was probably my favorite aspect. Though there isn't much of a view as you're looking at another building facing the property, it was perfect for people watching and listening to the sounds of the city at night. The free water in the lobby was very much appreciated, & the front desk staff were very courteous.

I cannot write a review of Le Saint Sulpice without mentioning the location. Old Montreal certainly has its charms, and this place puts you right in the middle of it all! Being right next to Basilique Notre-Dame and 10 minutes from Place d'Armes metro stop, you need only walk 100ft and you're in the middle of French-Canadian culture. There was a liquor store not a 3 minute walk away, a grocery store maybe 15 minutes on foot, and St. Paul St. West has some great bars-you can see this street from your window.

Finally, if you're into some fine cuisine, you've got to check out the restaurant Sinclair. It's right below the lobby, and exudes a truly romantic atmosphere. My brother in law and I enjoyed its gorgeous bar perhaps too much, but that's vacation for you. The manager was only too helpful in his endeavors to recommend some great spots to check out late night, and Gino was and is an excellent host. I HIGHLY recommend the Fisherman's Platter.

While availability may be sparse as this is quite a hot spot in the city, I would definitely recommend it as your home away from home while checking out Old Montreal.

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor facing the street and right above the entrance.
