FROM ONE TRAVELER TO ANOTHER.....If you read my review of Plateau Montreal, and decided to experience this part of Montreal by walking thru its best parts, and feel like having a light lunch, then you may benefit from this review.MAY! Because instead of a certain Smoked Meat joint mentioned in this review, you may want to chose another"Fast Food place"nearby, just a short detour of app.150meters East, from the Main an onto Duluth. The best feature is the low cost and a divine avocado dressing;so you should probably not go here, unless you absolute need to eat inexpensively, are in the neighborhood and don't mind eating just this kind of food at that specific moment in the area.
This is a small inviting place, which interior design and size certainly evoke memories for anyone who have traveled in Latin America, but have you i.e. visited that little family run Areperia near Hotel Rio in Juan Grigio, on Isla Margarita, you may be insulted at Arepera.
The regional specialty is Arepas,(shredded to near pulpy cream at this place...),some type of meat,or vegetarian version,in a tortilla wrapper. We got different versions, but both had a mushy texture, that sadly enough made it quite impossible to distinguish anything else inside. The yuccas were dry like chips, but served with an amazingly good avocado dressing,a real the highlight of the visit, together with the little salad plate(lettuce and tomato slices),that was as fresh as it should be everywhere.
IN A FEW WORDS: This place is a quite typical"average agreeable " small & low-cost place, that with a little improvement could be a real treat to visit. This is NOT a place that you can directly give the Thumb Down to,but as for now,I only want to recommend it if YOU think that you would like to eat just this kind of food when you pass in the area!
