“VENEZUELAN-COLOMBIAN LOW-COST LUNCH ON THE ROAD”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

FROM ONE TRAVELER TO ANOTHER.....If you read my review of Plateau Montreal, and decided to experience this part of Montreal by walking thru its best parts, and feel like having a light lunch, then you may benefit from this review.MAY! Because instead of a certain Smoked Meat joint mentioned in this review, you may want to chose another"Fast Food place"nearby, just a short detour of app.150meters East, from the Main an onto Duluth. The best feature is the low cost and a divine avocado dressing;so you should probably not go here, unless you absolute need to eat inexpensively, are in the neighborhood and don't mind eating just this kind of food at that specific moment in the area.
This is a small inviting place, which interior design and size certainly evoke memories for anyone who have traveled in Latin America, but have you i.e. visited that little family run Areperia near Hotel Rio in Juan Grigio, on Isla Margarita, you may be insulted at Arepera.
The regional specialty is Arepas,(shredded to near pulpy cream at this place...),some type of meat,or vegetarian version,in a tortilla wrapper. We got different versions, but both had a mushy texture, that sadly enough made it quite impossible to distinguish anything else inside. The yuccas were dry like chips, but served with an amazingly good avocado dressing,a real the highlight of the visit, together with the little salad plate(lettuce and tomato slices),that was as fresh as it should be everywhere.
IN A FEW WORDS: This place is a quite typical"average agreeable " small & low-cost place, that with a little improvement could be a real treat to visit. This is NOT a place that you can directly give the Thumb Down to,but as for now,I only want to recommend it if YOU think that you would like to eat just this kind of food when you pass in the area!

“I enjoyed my meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012

What I really liked: Yucca chips and all arepas we ordered. Juices were well priced and done well.
What I did not like: the pulled beef with tomato sauce was too bland.

All in all, I would definitely go again.

“Large portions, awesome home-like foods”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012 via mobile

This place is small but the food was worth the wait for an available table. I wouldnt recommend it if u are with a large party, five or more, just due to the size of the place. Food was warm, tasty, reminded me of a home-cooked meal. Prices were reasonable, portions were BIG! Definitely worth visiting.

“......just like being on holiday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

A little Venezuelan restaurant on the plateau, owned and run by Max, origionally from Margarita Island. He and the staff make you feel like you are down south, and very welcome!
The ambience is perfect from the stack of fresh fruits and vegetables, the banana plant, even a man sleeping in a hammock taking his siesta!!
The food was prepared perfectly and served with care.
Nothing wrong with this place at all, a little bit of Margarita Island right here at home!!
Carnivores, veggies and vegans are all well served.

“Nice food, poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

Those arepas are delicious. The menu is kind of limited, prices affordable.

The bad things: bad ventilation system, I still can smell those arepas on my clothes and hair, and the manager was so rude today, it is unbelievable. The waitresses were very kind, but the manager was in a really unpleasant mood. If he hates his job as much as it seems, he should get another one.
