“Outstanding Staff & Beautiful Room!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2011

I travelled to the Delta Centre-Ville this weekend and absolutely enjoyed EVERY minute of my stay. The purpose of the trip was to relax with a few friends in a suite for the weekend and it couldn't have been better. Upon check-in, I was surprised to see that my reservation was made for one night instead of two. Tara, the front desk agent, let me know with a smile that this would not be a problem and she would be more than happy to make the change for me. Crisis averted! Aside from this, the checkin couldnt have gone smoother. (thank you!) The room was perfect! A two floor suite on the 28th floor with the ability to entertain people in the living room without having the bedroom invaded was a great feature! The view of the Old Port was spectacular at night! After a superb night out with friends, the front desk staff made us feel right at home and offered us help at any question. Cynthia and Ester could not have been more helpful in our quests later in the evening. Although I am sure anyone else would have gotten annoyed, these two workers smiled and laughed the whole time. Such a pleasure! Francois, the Security Guard also helped make us feel like we were more than welcome at the hotel with his friendliness. The four people mentioned in this post helped create such an amazing trip to Montreal that I will definitely return to this hotel again! Their passion for work and commitment to service is displayed through their smiles and interactions. Thank you for such a great stay!

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to go to the front desk at night! The staff are unbelievably helpful.

Dear CD,

We really appreciate your wonderful comments found on your recent review regarding our staff and property!.

I promise to share these with each person mentioned and to nominate them internally. We often tell them how important they are in the overall 'guest experience' and how they are the true ambassadors of our hotel, but it is through comments such as yours that they can see the proof!

“Wonderful Lunch....Amazing Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2011

A colleague and myself went to Antoine's at the Delta Centre-Ville last week for lunch. From the moment we were greeted by a smiling, welcoming hostess to our departure, the service was excellent and the fare - delicious. It is so nice to come out of a dining establishment feeling better & mentally refreshed by the professionalism of the staff. It is an experience that we look forward to repeating.

“Nice beds, terrible service, disappointing food.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2011

We stayed at the Delta Centre-ville last weekend for a convention, I had been there a couple of years before and was hoping for a better experience, it was a little worse. The restaurant/bar downstairs had astoundingly bad service. It was not busy that night, there were a few others in our section and everyone noticed the waitress taking a very long time to bring menus and take orders. She was working at the computer kiosk, back to the room for a good amount of time, then over to the front desk, back to the kiosk etc. We waited about twenty-five minutes for menus. The food selection was not that good, with not a lot of options for those looking for something healthy/vegetarian. I ordered Thai spring rolls and it was not like any Thai spring roll I've ever had, the wrap was not a crispy rice but made from flour. Not a lot of protein other than a few snap peas. Not good. And pricey. From what I saw of other people's meals over the weekend, the food was heavy, cafeteria-ish and not very appetizing. The in-room service menu was not much better (Suckling Pig "a l'orange" was one option, seriously?) and closed at 11pm so if you have jet lag and need a little something after hours, you're out of luck. Back to that first night, some friends came in as we were trying to find the waitress to pay the bill (no check in for water/drinks from her), and they reported the next day having just as many issues with service and food (one has bad allergies). That waitress pretty much disappeared, leaving a couple of American tourists grabbing pitchers and serving water to the other customers.

The rooms were clean and the beds firm and comfortable, but the building is old and the windows don't open leaving you at the mercy of the air conditioning/heating which after a couple of days left me feeling crazy claustrophobic.

Rue St. Catherines is pretty close... after a torturous climb uphill. There aren't a lot of food options in the area for several blocks around so it was quite depressing whenever it came time to eat after a long day at the Bonaventure where the food court options are just as bleak.

Overall, the place is just not very inviting and I really hope I don't have to stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a room higher up, less noise from the traffic and the train station across the street.

Dear lostintheworld,

Thank you for taking the time in your busy schedule to post a review of the Delta Centre-Ville. We truly appreciate guest feedback and use it contrcutively to bring improvements to our property and its services.

I will discuss your experience with our director of Food & Beverage as well as the chef. The issue of promt and courteous service will be raised as well as the menu selections. We normally obtain positive comments about the dishes offered and their freshness. Our goal is to have our guests attend one of our restaurants, however, there are many fine eateries in the area along McGill College or the neighbouring Old Montreal area. Please see our bellstaff for options.

We will be undergoing major renovations later this fall to the majority of our guest rooms. This will include new furniture, fixtures and a complete bathroom remodeling. The redesign will continue into our public areas and restaurants. I hope you will return to see the changes in the coming year.

Regards,

Antonio D'Alesio

“A good hotel but a little bit unpersonal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2011

The Delta Centre-Ville Hotel in Montreal is a tower of 30 flloors and nice large rooms but a little bit old styled arranged. Nothing special, no charm but normally functional, and free access to internet through cable. The breakfast is as the room, functional but nothing very appealing.
The hotel is located around 1000 meters out of Sainte Catherine, ouf of the vibrant shopping center and one mile from the old part of Montreal, but with a metro station just under the hotel, areal +.
Have a look on the price, this could be the decisive factor to decide

Dear jcbolay,

Thank you for writing your review! We appreciate the sharing of information and the opportunity to respond.

Our breakfast buffet has been updated recently and has a vast selection of tasty fresh dishes. We have even added a vegetable and tofu stir fry to please our vegetarian guests.

We usually obtain good marks on the location of the hotel as we are very close to the main shopping as well as on the border of Old Montreal. In your review there are positive comments regarding our location, but then a score of 2 which may lead to some confusion. Just to clarify, St-Catherine is approximately 1.5 km, and Old Montreal is less than 1 km.

Thank you again, and warm regards!

“Poor nights sleep”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2011

The hotel is within walking distance of main line station. It is very big and impersonal. Our 7th floor room was at times very noisy-traffic from below. There seemed to be a lot of airline staff staying and at times there was a feeling of being pushed out of the way. In our stay in Canada this was the one place where we found someone who was rude and abrupt-porter at front of hotel when we asked for directions. The room was clean but worn, no wardrobe, not even a hanger.
There is a small shop in the foyer.

Room Tip: When we mentioned the noise we were recommeded to ask for a room at the back next time as they are q...

Dear hearts78,

Thank you for taking the time to wite a review of our property. These are appreciated and allow us to obtain the perspective of our guests, and attempt to improve.

The Delta Centre-Ville has 711 rooms and we are the 3rd largest hotel in the city of Montreal. At times we do have several guests arriving and departing the property but these busy periods are generally short. We have tour guests, conventions and meetings taking place but our staff are taught to be warm and cordial to all of our guests without exception. I will speak to the door and bell staff to ensure they are being hospitable.

There are closets in all of our guest rooms. These are found next to the guest room door but the woodwork blends them into the wall somewhat. Our upcoming renovations will see a mirror placed on the closet door making it much easier to locate.

Thank you for your comments and suggections.
