We took the Grand Tour over a two day period. It was a great way to see Montreal. Our guides did a great job. We would definitely recommend this to anyone. This was our first visit to the city so we got a great overview and with a walking tour you see so much.

“When all you have is one day in Montreal, go Guidatour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

I had just a little more than one day to spend in Montreal while my husband was there on business. I scheduled the Grand Tour ticket and am so glad I did. The first tour of the morning I was the only one with the guide, so I got an unexpected private tour of the underground system in Montreal. That was a good thing since it was raining. By the second tour the rain had stopped and the group was larger, but still very good. The third tour took us to more of the old city. I definitely got my money's worth and learned a lot about the city. I've paid much more for tour guides in other cities but Guidatour was the best.

“Great intro to the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

We bought the Grand Tour ticket (3 tours) and it was well worth it. We took the 3 walking tours over a 5 day period and found each to be informative. Especially enjoyed the tours through Vieux-Montreal. All the guides, especially Michelin, were knowledgeable and shared interesting facts/ trivia. Definitely take advantage of the separate tour of the Basilica...which is free if one purchases the Grand Tour package.

We took the tour of Old Montreal, east section, with Frederic, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The setup for these tours is easy - meet in front of La Basilique Notre-Dame de Montreal, 15 minutes prior to tour starting time (11 am for us). There is a west section tour after lunch (1 pm I believe, for the west section tour). These tours are ninety minutes long and the rep from Guidatours collects fees where a blue ground level sign has been set up. This company provides tours in both English and French.
Frederic is engaging, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and entertaining, and he has a great sense of humour. He loves Montreal and imparts this to his tour group. We walked all through the old section and saw housing dating back to the 1700's. Housing construction of the 18th century is explained in detail which is quite fascinating. The narrow cobblestoned streets are amazing, and require sensible shoes!! Do not wear heels! There is ample time for photography and Frederic explains the history behind the buildings and streets. We went by Chateau-Ramezay (under renovation) as well as Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel.
Do not go through La Basilique Notre-Dame de Montreal before the walking tour, as you can save money by doing the tour first (as mentioned in an earlier review) and Frederic takes the group inside the Basilica anyway, for a brief tour introduction at the start. Tickets from the Basilica also allow for a 50% decrease in the cost of admittance to The Museum of Archeology (Pointe a Calliere) which is a short walk to the west.
We did not do the west tour but it incorporates more of the financial district, a newer area.
This walking tour is a great introduction to Vieux Montreal and the tour ends in an area where shops and restaurants are everywhere - the intersection of Rue Saint Paul and Place Jacques Cartier. Pedestrian thoroughfares!! The biggest problem is choosing amongst the many restaurants!!
Take a Guidatour - you will not be disappointed!!

“Excellent overview of Montreal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

We enjoyed a one-day grand tour of Montreal with three walking tours for the unbeatable price of $30/person. We had our own guide for Downtown Montreal and then a nice small group for our tours of East and West Old Montreal. Our walking tours were really the highlight of our visit and all three guides were excellent and knowledgeable, bringing the history of Montreal to life.
