Featuring a plethora of interesting 1920s-inspired design details, the Dominion Square Tavern is a cut above your average downtown eatery. Enjoy simple classic fare such as mussels and fries or a pulled pork sandwich in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Top it off with a sinful serving of sticky toffee pudding. Newly reopened, the tavern is already a huge hit with the downtown professional crowd. A full bar, cocktails, wine and beers awaits.

“Comfort Food Par Excellence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Had a great time and dinner in the Dominion for our first night in Montreal, the place was heaving and the noise of the other diners and drinkers was deafening but it all added to its wonderful charm. Love the old style decor, friendly and efficient service and best of all the food, the most delicious Bangers and Mash ever!

“Great service, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

I've eaten at the Old Dominion a few times now and everytime come away pleased. Today I ate on their terrace (called to reserve an hour before), got a great table and mentioned we had exactly 50min for our meal. I asked which dishes were the quickest and sure enough was served within 5 minutes. I couldn't have been more pleased. I had the mussels and bacon: very tasty and balanced flavour and the right quantity (not too much, not too little). For a tee-totaler such as I, don't forget to try the house made ginger ale.
A great pub.

“Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

We went for lunch and each had the Ploughman's Lunch. It hit the spot perfectly.
Service was friendly, attentive and helpful.
Like the other reviews have mentioned, the decor is unique; it's a trip back in time. I ordered an Absinthe and it came with all the old-time paraphenalia.
It's a great experience.

“Great cocktails”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

The menu is fun, but not vegetarian friendly (only one option for main). The decor was outstanding, the service was attentive. We had the salmon gravlax and fried clams for appetisers, which were fine, as we're the mains, we ordered the seared salmon, strip loin and Cornish game hen (for 2). Everything was prepared well but not creative or exceptional enough to merit the price. For dessert we had donuts, Paris-Brest eclair and the sticky toffee pudding. Of all the food, the only truly exceptional dish was the sticky pudding. The cocktails were well made, the sazerac was especially good. The coffee after was underwhelming drip.

“A Unique spot for a drink or a quick meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

The decor alone is worth a visit. Part gentlemen's club, part 1970's rec room, this is not a place that takes itself too seriously.

The beer and whisky list is impressive, and the staff are well-versed in their offering. In general, the staff are pleasant and professional, but never intrusive.

The menu is small and probably pretty scary for vegans but if meat is your thing, this is your place. I tried the fried clams and a small salad. The clams are lovely, tender and battered properly. A more imaginative sauce might have been a nice idea.

The tomato salad was very good. Loaded with feta and flavour, it was a nice balance for the fried clams. My friend never tires of the bangers and mash, and says theyre the best in the province. Sunday, they do a roast beef brunch.

Check out the funky washrooms before you leave.
