“Nice play to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

PROS -Spotless and spacious room with super comfortable beds. Friendly and helpful concierge and front desk staff.
Excellent food and service at the Resto-Bar!

CONS-Noisy heater cycling on/off in the room. Bathroom fan that always comes on when you turn on the light. Although the rooms were very clean and well appointed, the hallway was surprisingly dingy and the complete opposite of the beautiful décor in the lobby and mezzanine. The hallway carpet was quite dirty and hadn't been vacumed at all in the 4 days we were there-- who knows how long beforehand.

For my first TripAdvisor review ever, I decided to choose THE hotel that I know best: the Delta Montreal. I've stayed at this hotel about 20 times, both for business and leisure.

Every time I go to Montreal, I now go to this hotel. Because of its location, its rooms, and its service.

Location: centrally located, near "Place des arts" metro station (green line), in the "Quartier des spectacles" which hosts many great festivals during the summer, walking distance from the shopping area on Ste-Catherine street, walking distance from "Palais des congrès", Chinatown, Central train station, and old-Montreal. There are many places to buy decent espresso coffee around, including a Van Houtte and a Starbucks one block away, and a SAQ to buy wine also one block away. There are many restaurants to chose from around the hotel, including my favorite, Brasserie T, located right on the "Place des Arts".

Rooms: They were all renovated in 2012, they are spacious, very modern, well decorated. Perfect for the business traveler, with a great desk and multiple plugs, even one to plug your computer into the big flat tv screen. Beds are so comfortable. My room also had a sofa. Bathroom was also of a good size, it had a great big shower with ceramics. If you absolutely want a room with a bath, you should ask for it. Although downtown Montreal views are not to die for, it is very nice to have a private balcony. Rooms are very quiet. Only thing missing that would make the rooms almost perfect: a fridge.

Service: I usually get exceptional service at this hotel. From the greetings at the front desk till the check out, the staff is so helpful and will always manage to answer your needs.

Breakfast: was included during my last visit. It is served at "Aroma" restaurant at the Mezzanine level. You can choose between a buffet or order from the menu. Both are great. Absolutely nothing to complain about. If you happen to sleep on the 22nd or 23rd floor (privilege floors), you also have access to some nice breakfast at the lounge, which has the advantage to be less crowded and has a great view of the city.

Parking: underground, costs extra. I would however recommend to travel by metro, bixi (summer only), or walking, while in Montreal.

Price: by far one of the most affordable 4-stars hotel in Montreal.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 22nd or 23rd floor if possible. These are "privilege" floors, some r...

We arrived and initially struggled to get into the car park and it was not clear if a valet service was offered or not.

After parking and checking in we entered the room which was on the corner of the building. It overlooked a back-street garden which was overgrown. The balcony was covered in cigarettes that had not been cleared from before. The door also didn't shut properly. There was no controller for the tv and the air conditioning unit vibrated and hummed all night without ever really altering the temperature of the room.

Due to the position on the corner the room itself was rather small but the bathroom was huge, which was strange. This was one of the poorer deltas we have stayed in.

The hotel was also a very long way away from many of the attractions.

Room Tip: DONT get a corner room.

This hotel is a frequent stop for me. The rooms are greatly improved after a recent recent renovation. I was really impressed with the new desks which have multiple power plugs! Delta gets it that biz travellers have laptops and phones that need to be plugged in!!! No other hotel chain has realized the importance of power plugs as Delta has. Room was clean and comfortable. Friendly and on time room service. My only complaint is an ongoing issue with slow service in the bar, the only restaurant in the hotel. No menu, no acknowledgement, no drink for more than 10 minutes after entering. You have to chase staff for service (which is pleasant and friendly). I stay here often and it's always irritating. Otherwise I really like this hotel.

I hadn't been in this hotel for years, remembering it as worn-out, grubby building overrun with travelling hockey teams in Montreal for tournaments.

The rooms have been renovated, and are ideally suited for a business traveller. There is a good desk, with good lighting, and built in connected cables to a very good LED flat screen TV. There is also a good reading chair, with arms and a side table, and a floor lamp. Excellent working environment, and good value at $ 189.00.

Decor is muted contemporary. Bathroom has been renovated as well, quite nicely: however, a significant drawback is that the exhaust fan, which is very loud, is wired to the light switch, so you can't turn on the light without also turning on the fan.

While the room was renovated, the renovation did not extend to the HVAC, which is very loud, or to the old elevators, which are still agonizingly slow.

The location is somewhat away from the central business district but on the other hand an easy walk to Old Montreal.

Hotel is modern, clean, quiet, peaceful and near to so many wonderful restaurants and shops. What else could one ask for? The pool is amazing as well! Loved the oxygen bar - totally fun! I can't think of anything that was wrong with this hotel. The staff was awesome as well! Loved it!

I loved the spacious and well appointed rooms in this hotel. It almost felt like a studio apartment which I appreciated since I arrived in a torrential rain storm and didn't feel like going out the first night I was there. My room was very comfortable and would be perfect for anyone travelling for business or for pleasure. A great nights sleep as the mattress was very comfortable and the bedding first rate. Since the weather was so bad, I made my way up to the dining room (Le Cordial) half expecting mediocre food at a high price. I was wrong on both counts. Friendly and helpful service and a surprisingly wonderful menu with great choices including a special which included soup or salad, entre (3 choices) and dessert for $22. I was also able to order 2 beer for the price of one and, since I wasn't driving, why not?! The hotel location is slightly east of the centre of the shopping district but the metro is right across the street and on a nice day, a very enjoyable walk to Rue St. Catherine or Old Montreal.
