“Great value for the money.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

The hotel is fantastic.

It has been recently renovated and the suites are new. Location is great and the service is very good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Montreal for either business or pleasure.

I could say I had a great night sleep while I stay here.

I am staying in the Delta Montreal as I type this, in a spacious room with a smart desk, which allows computers to show over the flat screen tv. It is impressive. My stay here has been very comfortable with great service from the desk, in the restaurants, and from the banquet staff running the conference I am attending. The hotel is walking distance to several metro stops and many restaurants, as well as McGill University.

One night stay at this travel coordinator internet booked hotel on first visit to this city. Typical large purpose built functional business hotel. Detest arriving at hotel reception where one's senses are overwhelmed by the smell of the over chlorinated spa/pool! Location is in what I regarded as a pretty grotty part of downtown Montreal; itself a city I was pretty unimpressed with. Room was comfortable enough and breakfast buffet was okay; nothing special. Would select a more boutique style hotel in old part of town if I ever returned to the city.

My experience at Delta far exceeded my expectations! I am happy to say that I had a fantastic stay and although it was only for one night, I would hestitate to come back. The room that I had was shared amongst two other family members and we had no problem getting 2 double beds. It was a decent size with plenty of space for our luggage and for us to lounge around the room. The TV was huge and although the space was a little bit awkward shaped (more like an L rather than a straight retangular room), it worked well.

The washroom was also off to the side a bit so it wasn't right next to the hall or doors. It had a large mirror and tub and brightly lit. I loved the abundance of counter space and tablespace in general in the room for us to put stuff on (rather than the floor). No major complaints at all since I loved everything! I'll definitely be a repeat customer if I came back to stay in Montreal. I think it's great for families and business travelers alike.

The location is also prime - lots of opportunities to walk around and tour Montreal. Parking was expensive and not included so that was expected. The staff were a little unfriendly when we asked for extra pillows/towels but still sent it up to our room anyway. Why were they even reluctant about it? Overall still a lovely stay and although the lobby isn't very "grand" feeling, the rooms are.

The rooms at the Delta Montreal are newly renovated with a modern look. They are ideal for the single business traveller needing a place to stay. Outfitted with a tech-friendly work station and a flat screen television, and a closet to organize your clothes for the workweek.

The bathroom has a nice shower ( no tub) and Philosophy toiletries.

A little in-room safe and refrigerator would have been nice touches for these rooms, but overall this room met my needs.

Good location, close to St Carherines for shopping or 20-30 minute walk to old Montreal.

After staying at the Delta Montreal on President Kennedy (near Sherbrooke) for many years, it became a little tattered around the edges, and we had taken to going to other hotels - that is, until just recently. The Delta's recent renovations now have us back as their guests - what an improvement! The rooms, as always, are still large, clean, and spacious - ours had an enclosed balcony - but have been updated with new furniture, comfortable beds, new decorations, updated carpeting and a remodelled bathroom. This made the Delta Montreal a great value for the amount they charge - and don't forget to ask for the AAA/CAA discount if you are a member.

With only a couple of minor tweaks, this hotel could be perfect. For example, guests currently are required to pay extra for WiFi in the guest rooms - allowing free WiFi in every guest room would be a welcome perk - this probably costs the hotel nothing to provide, and would make family travel perfect (keeping in touch with other family members - whether in town or out of town - via the Internet is a great convenience if you don't have to leave the room or be charged extra).

Also, the newly renovated bathrooms no longer has those unsightly industrial/hotel towel racks, but they only replaced the rack with a single hook near the bathtub, leaving it suitable if only one person is using the large towels. (No problem with the hand towel rack, holding three towels directly below the sink.) So, if you wish to hang up more than one bath towel, they don't dry very well on a single hook, all bunched up. The only alternative is hanging them outside the bathroom, on the coat hooks on the wall of the entrance, near the door. Or, in the front hall closet on a hanger...also outside the bathroom. This is an easy fix (even adding another hook on the back of the bathroom door would be fine!), and an important one. Especially in this day and age when hotel visitors are asked to try to conserve water and re-use our towels - hard to do when they're still soaking wet.

Finally, from previous stays (and unless they've changed anything since then), we know that if you want a refrigerator in the room, it costs extra (which isn't such a bad thing) - but you're not guaranteed to be able to get one, depending on when you check in, and how many others have requested a fridge. For those people with young children, or those who have dietary restrictions, access to a refrigerator can be a major convenience. Other hotels often have bar fridges in every room ... however I recognize this is costly and consumes a large amount of electricity, sometimes unnecessarily when the fridges aren't used. I would rather pay extra for a fridge as opposed to jacking up the costs for all the rooms just to provide them all with fridges....but it would be nice to know you can get a fridge if you need it, and not leave it to chance.
As for service, it is quite prompt. We asked for extra towels, and the following night we asked for two feather pillows (instead of the synthetic-fibre ones that don't hold their shape, which were provided in the room), and these were all delivered promptly. However, instead of receiving two feather pillows, we received one feather and one synthetic fibre one. Perhaps they can't tell the difference...?
Overall, the Delta Montreal is conveniently located, has large rooms, and now boasts updated carpeting/furniture/bathrooms that make it once again our go-to hotel in Montreal. We love the reasonable prices, but would welcome if they could provide free in-room WiFi, and of course a few more large towel hooks are quite necessary!
