“Some minor tweaks would make this newly renovated hotel perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

After staying at the Delta Montreal on President Kennedy (near Sherbrooke) for many years, it became a little tattered around the edges, and we had taken to going to other hotels - that is, until just recently. The Delta's recent renovations now have us back as their guests - what an improvement! The rooms, as always, are still large, clean, and spacious - ours had an enclosed balcony - but have been updated with new furniture, comfortable beds, new decorations, updated carpeting and a remodelled bathroom. This made the Delta Montreal a great value for the amount they charge - and don't forget to ask for the AAA/CAA discount if you are a member.

With only a couple of minor tweaks, this hotel could be perfect. For example, guests currently are required to pay extra for WiFi in the guest rooms - allowing free WiFi in every guest room would be a welcome perk - this probably costs the hotel nothing to provide, and would make family travel perfect (keeping in touch with other family members - whether in town or out of town - via the Internet is a great convenience if you don't have to leave the room or be charged extra).

Also, the newly renovated bathrooms no longer has those unsightly industrial/hotel towel racks, but they only replaced the rack with a single hook near the bathtub, leaving it suitable if only one person is using the large towels. (No problem with the hand towel rack, holding three towels directly below the sink.) So, if you wish to hang up more than one bath towel, they don't dry very well on a single hook, all bunched up. The only alternative is hanging them outside the bathroom, on the coat hooks on the wall of the entrance, near the door. Or, in the front hall closet on a hanger...also outside the bathroom. This is an easy fix (even adding another hook on the back of the bathroom door would be fine!), and an important one. Especially in this day and age when hotel visitors are asked to try to conserve water and re-use our towels - hard to do when they're still soaking wet.

Finally, from previous stays (and unless they've changed anything since then), we know that if you want a refrigerator in the room, it costs extra (which isn't such a bad thing) - but you're not guaranteed to be able to get one, depending on when you check in, and how many others have requested a fridge. For those people with young children, or those who have dietary restrictions, access to a refrigerator can be a major convenience. Other hotels often have bar fridges in every room ... however I recognize this is costly and consumes a large amount of electricity, sometimes unnecessarily when the fridges aren't used. I would rather pay extra for a fridge as opposed to jacking up the costs for all the rooms just to provide them all with fridges....but it would be nice to know you can get a fridge if you need it, and not leave it to chance.
As for service, it is quite prompt. We asked for extra towels, and the following night we asked for two feather pillows (instead of the synthetic-fibre ones that don't hold their shape, which were provided in the room), and these were all delivered promptly. However, instead of receiving two feather pillows, we received one feather and one synthetic fibre one. Perhaps they can't tell the difference...?
Overall, the Delta Montreal is conveniently located, has large rooms, and now boasts updated carpeting/furniture/bathrooms that make it once again our go-to hotel in Montreal. We love the reasonable prices, but would welcome if they could provide free in-room WiFi, and of course a few more large towel hooks are quite necessary!

Even breakfast was good, staff is very friendly, this hotel is a rip off!!! We were there for our 7 years anniversary and took the most expansive Kind room with a city view. Even I requested higher floor and hotel looked pretty empty, I didn't get one and they couldn't move me(??). Our "city view" was (from the 21 floor) to the building across! Room was so tiny, no where near looked like a picture online. Balcony looked like contraction going on. Floor to ceiling window was dirty with a huge metal balk across and blocked by the couch that you can't move anywhere simply because the room is so SMALL!!! Also, I think room was clean only because they just had renovation. Pool was in the basement, smelled dirty and looked awful. So we end up with $700.00 us bill for three night and total disappointment. If you looking for a place downtown - look somewhere else!!!
We are from US and leave from Montreal 2.5 hours away, it was our first trip to Montreal and we fell in love with it! Because it's so close, we will be visiting at least once a month, but definitely we won't stay in this hotel!!! Not even for free!!!

Room Tip: do not stay here, for that amount I'm sure you can find a better place.

We are always staying at Delta during our trips to Montreal. Rooms we stayed in were spacious, very clean, comfortable beds. The young lady at reception was very professional. The hotel is exactly the same as on the pictures :-). Didn't have a chance to use a pool yet. Will definitely stay there again.

The best part of our stay here was the amazing bed! WOW! We never wanted to leave the bed, checking out was so difficult not to mention we almost missed it because of this bed! So comfortable from the bed itself to the linens and huge pillows. They actually give you five huge pillows which was nice. The room itself was so clean and smelled new. It was all very comfortable from the couches and swivel chair to the bathroom. The bathroom was very updated with a glass shower that was so relaxing. I had the Kind mode deluxe room which is why it was so spacious. I would highly suggest this room. The flat screen tv is big and the smart desk is pretty convenient. It came with a robe too. I wish there were slippers because each room has a balcony to walk onto. The balcony view wasn't too great from our room it was just other buildings to look at but I imagine other areas are better views. It was a great room to relax and get ready for a night out. They provide nice glass ware to drink from and lots of space with an ipod dock for music. The safe was helpful and friendly. We were able to park for $24 a night under the hotel and leave the car there until 6 pm on check out day while we explored the city. The spa looked very nice, as well as the salt water pool but we ran out of time to experience it all but I will definitely be back. Also the room service was fast, even though it took a few tries to get through on the phone to order. They have an extensive menu with local cuisines. I had the onion soup and I am an onion soup snob.. let me just say one of the best I have tried! SO tasty, and the poutine was pretty good as well.

Room Tip: Get a deluxe mode king, the bed is awesome! It is super updated for a great experience. I enjoyed st...
