I booked a superior quality room ($109 Canadian) in June for our trip last week. The location of the hotel is pretty good (very close to the happening Latin Quarter, 3 blocks from the Metro), but the first room we were given reminded me of a Travelodge room--clean, but you wouldn't want to hang out there at all, just shower and sleep. The room was also quite musty with a good dose of cleaning solution smell on top. It definitely did NOT look like any of the rooms pictured on the website.

The next day I was able to switch rooms (the hotel was completely booked the first night). I upgraded to a deluxe room ($129 Canadian), which was much nicer. The bathroom had been completely renovated, as opposed to the first room's very old and worn bathroom, and the room itself was worth spending some free time in. It was unbelievable what $20 difference makes at this hotel. It's worth the money. But make sure to ask for a renovated room when you make your reservation.

Breakfast was served in "the dungeon" where you didn't want to dawdle because it was underground and had one window. What was served was pretty lame. All they offered was the standard breakfast drinks (coffee, tea, orange juice--and hot chocolate), croissants, toast and bagels. Nothing more. The orange juice was provided in what I call a large shooter glass, so you had to keep requesting refills. The food was not very tasty at all. Management would be well advised to upgrade the quality and quantity. Self-serve would be good so that people can help themselves to the food and amounts they want.

I agree with the most favorable reviews..Our visit to Montreal is always a great experience and it was enhanced this time with our stay at the Armor Manoir..The room was clean, comfortable, and everything worked(the water pressure is controlled by the city by the way). We found the management to be very friendly, helpful and patient. The location is perfect and the price very reasonable for all that is offered. We have decided that the armor Manoir would be our first consideration for future visits to the great city of Montreal and for anyone else, it's worth checking into!

We stayed for 3 nights over the Christmas holiday. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our room on the top floor was quaint and very clean. We had a private bathroom, also clean and newly renovated. I agree that the water pressure was not what I'm used to.
The front lobby has also been renovated. It is in a perfect location.
We are planning a return trip in the summer and will definetly stay at Armor Manior again!

I imagine you are like me, you like to plan your trip. You surf the net and find what you think is value. You make a reservation 2 months in advance, not to get the cheapest room, but to get the best room. They confirm, and give specific details of your room. They tell you that if you don't show, they charge anyway...that is fair..you want that room.
You show up on the reserved day, show them your reservation, and they look sheepishly at you and give you a key. You go to the room and it is not the one you reserved. You wanted double beds. You wanted a specific room, and went out of your way to plan in advance, to ensure you got it! You go to the desk, and they, as only the condescending French can do, is to say that is all they have left, you can pull out the sofa and use it as the double bed. They gave away your room, and in their smug manner, they don't care, they got your money, and you likely aren't going back. Well, they are right, I am not, and they did get my money; however, they might not get yours! This was in October 2003 and the reservation was in August 2003. Oh, and the story of the mold is true!
