“Great stay while travelling for business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

I stayed at this hotel October 21 - 23. I was travelling alone. My room was a junior suite on the 11th floor. It had a separate living room, two toilets, and a queen sized bed. The living room & bedroom could be divided by a sliding door.

The room was very clean and considering how cold it was in Montreal last week the temp in the room had already been adjusted to match the colder weather outside. I also liked that each room could have a separate temperature setting. The shower pressure was a little low, but the water temp was great. The room was very quiet, I don't recall hearing any outside noise while in my bedroom. The bed itself was incredibly comfortable. The only negative I had about my bathroom was there was not a lot of counter space for my toiletries.

I loved the location - within walking distance to the Bell Centre & was a short taxi cab ride to my work destination. The hotel staff were very friendly. I also loved that in the lower level there is a connection to the Metro as well as a food court with Tim Horton's, Second Cup, and other restaurants. (Just take the elevator to S2!)

The area was a nice location, I walked back to the hotel alone from the Habs game and as a female I felt very safe.

What I find a little annoying is that such a high quality hotel still charges for wifi. I expect for the price of the room that wifi could at least be included. If I were paying for this hotel out of my own pocket I would probably chose to stay elsewhere for that reason alone as many other hotels offer free wifi. However when travelling for business I don't complain too much!

Overall, a great stay and great location.

The hotel room was comfortable and quite nice but the bathroom was tiny and the bath had chunks out of it, water wouldn't drain and shower head was poor. I hate shower curtains so that didn't help. Staff were so so - concierge were more interested in internal politics going on than helping guests. Wouldn't stay again.

I have been to the QE many times. Found it a bit disappointing this time. Had a room on the 14th floor. The bath tub was aging and peeling. The sink and the tub would not drain properly. The parking was inconvenient. If you self park the parking is far away. Even the valet parking is an obstacle course to get to during the day. The staff at the entrance not clear with directions and options. Having Presidents Club (the loyalty program) did not amount to much except free Wi-FI. Can do better.

Room Tip: The views are great all around.

I didn't find the rooms all that small, unlike a previous reviewer, but mine could have done with a freshen up decoration wise. The beds, however, were superb, possibly the most comfy I've ever slept in - albeit a bit high for a short person like myself! The breakfast buffet was also superb - have very rarely, if ever, have I found poached eggs on a buffet - and the staff were super efficient. Even the tea was not the worst I've ever had. Location wise the Fairmont is also very convenient for everwhere, especially for sightseeing.

This is a great Hotel if coming to Montreal by Train. The Hotel is directly above the Train Station with direct access. Check in was faultless. Our room was very clean and the bed amazingly comfortable. We tried room Service and it was wonderful. It arrived before they said it would and it was hot and more importantly, they got the order correct. Breakfast was great with something for all tastes. We will definitely be back.

As already noted the rooms are very small, bathrooms have issue with cracked sinks and the finish coming off tubs, my carpet in room 654 had stains all over it. The meeting rooms are nice but lights are burnt out. The hotel is in a great location with shops below and close to everything. Service in the lounge was very very slow, waiting for drinks or even trying to get the tab. The food is good but there were many misses at a reception dinner and the duck was undercooked and tough.

We came in on the train and the hotel is right above the train station. It was very convenient. You can go anywhere in the city easily from the Fairmont. The subway is right under the hotel. You can walk a lot of places including Old Montreal from the hotel. The concierge was very helpful in directing us around the city. There were a lot of restaurants close to the hotel. Our room was nice but a little on the small side like a lot of the Fairmont's are. Overall a great stay at The Queen Elizabeth.
