“Comfortable bed, great view, but walls are thin”

I stayed 3 nights for the first time at this Fairmont Hotel. Thankfully, I had really good sleeps, which is very important. However, I was worried when I could hear my neighbours on each side so clearly when they first arrived or were talking on the phone. The walls are thin, for sure. The window opens so one can get fresh air and the heating/cooling system works well. The room was showing its age with a cracked bathroom sink and an elderly bar frig so packed with their expensive goods for sale that it is difficult to put anything of your own in there. The location is great and the staff were very helpful. Reception let me check in early for which I was very appreciative. The swimming pool is small but gives a good workout on a cold, rainy day.

This was a real treat for us - probably the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Staff is professional and amazingly good at their jobs. Seamless communication with all departments makes every decision so simple. It is expensive - BUT - our car was parked for us - and delivered to a convenient, easy to get to spot under the hotel. This was a real advantage as I have mobility issues and had not a simgle moment of worrying about navigating the hotel. The turn down service was unexpected and housekeeping staff did so many little things flawlessly.....we were grateful to be so kindly fussed over. The VERY BEST part of the hotel: the BED!! We had a king and never slept better in our lives. The boutique was a blast - the location (center city) excellent. There was no view to speak of but, because we required handicapped accommodations, we were necessarily placed on a low floor so that was a small compromise. All in all, the QE is a lovely choice for people with no budget restrictions.

We stayed for a weekend getaway. The room was nice and the hotel staff were very pleasing. We had a queen room and that was fine for the weekend, the bed was really comfortable ( my husband said I slept like a log) We took the via from Toronto and the hotel is above the train tunnel so we did not have to walk outside at all. There are many shops that are part of the underground and again you do not have to go outside unless you want to see St. Catharine's street which is another location filled with shops and restaurants.

This was a fun hotel to go to. Everything was clean and comfy. The location was great.
We ended up having a friend come back to the hotel with us and they gave us a cot for him to sleep on. Very friendly service. Great valet service too!
The only complaint is that you can smell the chlorine from the pool near the reception.

Would definitely go back!

My husband and I are Montreal residents, but I surprised him with a night at the Queen E Fairmont this weekend. We stay in the Fairmont Gold section, because the extra service and attention is so worth it.
The rooms and views are amazing. Depending on which side you stay on, you can get a great vantage point of Montreal, just be sure to ask for a view that is not impeded by an office building.
Fairmont room service is always the best of any hotel I've ever stayed in. The food is excellent, and the service so perfect you won't want to leave.
Breakfast for Gold members means you are in the private lounge (it's served until 11am on weekends, so nice) which has another impeccable view. We stayed there for ages and spoke with the staff who loved conversing with us. It's great to see staff not so over busy that they don't have time to have a relaxed conversation with you.
Fairmont Gold also has a beautiful panoramic elevator which you should check out anyway, if you can. It runs only from the lobby (Rez Chausse) to the 18th and 19th floors.
Bathrooms are supplied with generous and beautiful bottles of divine stuffs, there was a bookshelf in our room with some interesting looking books, and tempting mini bar with beautiful jelly beans which we broke into.
We'll definitely stay here again, and I am certainly dedicated to the Fairmont chain.

My fiancée and I spent two nights at the Fairmont La Reine Elizabeth in Montréal. The last of Canada's grand tradition of great railway hotels - built in the 1950s above Montréal's modern Central Station - the busy lobby sitting area still buzzes with well-dressed people coming and meeting and going, like a diplomatic crossroads where visitors and locals make first contact. Though the rails may rumble less often nowadays as most travellers arrive by air (STM's 707 shuttle to/from YUL stops across the street), it still exudes a certain air of gravitas.

The hotel recently had a major modernisation and renovation of all of the guestrooms. Ours was a typical contemporary décor, with contrasting white linens and dark cherry wood furniture, and in the corner a decorative curtain treatment with a ceiling-to-floor mirror adding a impression of volume. Overall a comfortable, though generic place to spend the night.

The bathroom has also been renovated. Although the classic black marble is original, the vanity has been replaced with a more modern-lined countertop. Like the bedroom, comfortable, though generic. The Rose 51 amenities continue the theme, with their bold, modern presentation, replacing last year's Miller Harris ensemble packaged in traditional motifs of curlicues and flowers throughout the Fairmont chain.

The hotel's restaurant, Le Montréalais, is where we saw La Reine Elizabeth's service and attention to detail really shine. An appetizer order of a shrimp paté and side order of a lobster poutine showed the chef's flexibility: an elegant, delicate, lightly-spiced shrimp cake on the one hand, and a gluttonous, messy, unpretentious mound of fries, cheese curds, gravy and lobster meat on the other - both fitting the bill, and filling satisfying perfectly in their respective ways.

The waiter, a gentleman in his late 40s or 50s, reminded us how much of a treat it is to have staff working in the business professionally, as opposed to the itinerant teenager or university student (like me) bussing tables between classes and other jobs. Gracious and attentive yet unobtrusive, addressing us by name - and, at the end of the meal, offering us a complimentary dessert selection of crème brulée, fruit tart and chocolate mousse.

Although this Fairmont location may not have the same castle-like old-world charm as the Royal York in Toronto, the Château Frontenac in Québec City or the Banff Springs Hotel, it is no less an historic part of Canadiana.

Great hotel in the heart of Montreal, close to Vieux Montreal. Rooms are large and very well kept. Good beds and furniture. Great hotel bar, from which you can enter subway and Montreal Underground City of Montreal. But expensive, though....
