I am a Marriott Reward member and looking for accommodation in Montreal and as I always, I read reviews on Tripadvisor, before making a reservation. There were enough negative reviews of this property, I was surprised and hesitant to book this property.
But, the location was my primary reason for selecting this hotel and at the same time having confidence in standards I’ve experienced with Marriott properties.
After our stay in Quebec City at Courtyard, we took a train to Montreal and the station was nearly under the hotel. We took the escalator up, out the front door of the station and the hotel was 5” away. We had luggage on wheels and had no difficulty walking to the hotel.
The friendly checked us in quickly and to our room on the 21st floor facing the park in front.
I think one of those negative reviews mentioned that the property looked old and in need of remodeling? I found none of that to be the case. It was very clean, well appointed and modern. Our room had a half moon shaped window with a trim, perhaps they meant that was old fashion? I spoke to one staff member and he indicated that some décor left on purpose not to lose old World charm. Complain about the size of rooms was unfounded! I have traveled all over the World and I can tell you plenty of encounters with small rooms! In fact the rate for this property was less than Courtyard in Quebec City and room much larger. Transportation to the airport is fixed rate at $35 and cabs are available in front 24/7.
Canada is a very beautiful country and we enjoyed our visit, but be warned that it is extremely expensive. I heard many Europeans complaining, especially the cost of dinning out. I would like to spend more time in this city and would not hesitate staying at this hotel.

This is an amazing hotel; this summer we went around couple of towns in Canada. This hotel was among the great hotels that we stayed in. Their staffs were friendly. Our room was extremely clean. We loved the location. We recommend it to our friends for sure.

Great location with the Metro stop directly downstairs and the Amtrak station just down the street. Within walking distance of shopping, good restaurants, Chinatown, Old Montreal, and Old Port. Room was roomy for 4. Definitely would stay here again.

Excellent river-view room. Comfy bed, excellent bathroom and good buffet breakfast.

Great for a business stay.

Stopped here for 2 nights on my first trip to Montreal. Service from reception, valet parking and concierge was faultless. Nice bar and excellent choice in the restaurant at breakfast. Good gym/leisure facilities for a 4 star city centre hotel. Good location for exploring Montreal on foot. Not the most modern hotel room but provided everything i would expect from a 4 star and was clean. Can't comment on value for money as i didn't pay! I would stop at this hotel again.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2010

Hotel lobby was very grand and promising, but unfortunately the room did not live up to expectations. I was on the 28th floor which had a great view, but the decor was very 90's and was disappointing. The room was fairly roomy just needing an update. The wireless internet was slower than a snail (although it was free), and the TV did not have many channels. The executive lounge was pretty good - the breakfast was very nice with juice, yogurt, toast, bagels, lots of fresh fruit, tea & coffee and the staff were very helpful. They also serve appetizers at 5pm and deserts at 7.30pm - and there was a good selection.

You can self park for $20.00 per day or you can valet for $27.00 per day + tips, but the valet service is a little slow - on average 15-20 minutes wait time.

I would use this hotel again for business purposes, because it is in a great location, right in the middle of everything, but if my trip was for leisure then I would choose something better like the Hotel Vogue.
