“Great Hotel...Just Alittle Bit Expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2010

Great Location, not as dated as other reviewers stated, pleasant staff, no free internet services in the rooms except for the lobby. For the room price of this hotel, internet should be free in the room. Breakfast and dinner were great..and I did make good friends at the lobby...a jolly good place!

I am a Hilton diehard, so I stay predominately at Hilton for the points and free breakfasts which my gold status affords me. I recently went to Montreal and stayed at 3 seperate Hilton properties: Embassy suites, Hilton Garden Inn Centerville, and the Hilton bonaventure. Of the three the Embassy suites had best room. The Garden Inn best location and overall value. The Bonaventure was the most expensive and most outdated and worst location. The rooms had supposedly been revamped in 2009. I don't know what that means! Just because it has a flat screen tv is it revamped???

This hotel is so dated from the 60's/70's! The bathrooms clearly show the age. I noted rates for the high $100's to low $200's. WhAt a joke! I paid a travel industry rate of $133, and that was over priced! The room was more like a Motel 6 than a Hilton. They did have a nice breakfast buffett, if you could get an attentant to serve you.

Save your money and stay at the garden inn with free wifi in your room and free local calls and great crossiants for around $120/night(better locAtion too).

Everything in this hotel is top notch. From the service, to the resturaunts, the rooms, the food, the beds.... I am a business traveler so I spend 260 days a year in hotels. This hotel is nothing short of a 4 1/2 star hotel in my opinion.

The rooms are modern and very clean. Sincerely; this is quite possibly the best stay I have ever had outside of the Bellagio in Vegas.

If your a dog owner staying here is no problem. I don't give "thumbs up" unless it's duely deserved.... and this place makes me wish I had more thumbs.

We stayed at this hotel when we visited Montreal and it had a great location, we were able to get every place we wanted to go very easily, I would recommend the service was not the best, but the bell boys were great with the family.

This hotel is recently remodled with lovely high class touches. The room is comfortable with large beds and a nice flat screen. It is a tri level floor plan without elevators so if you have a lot of luggage arrival can be tricky. The heated outdoor pool is very nice and the location of the hotel is excellent- just a short walk to either Old Montreal or shopping on Catherine.

Friendly and professional service at check in and check out. Rooms were clean and well serviced, but public areas were not always clean (what looked like an Aleve tablet lay on stairs outside my bedroom for 2 days and was clearly visible on the dark carpet; dirty plates left outside a room down the corridor from early morning till midnight; lint on many stairs and hallways). Idiosyncratic layout of hotel with many stairs to go up and down before reaching a room made me wonder how guests who have difficulty in walking cope.
On my last evening a loud mechanical noise started close to my room. A hotel staff member came to my room, could not locate the noise but promised to call back minutes later and to move me to another room. He never returned and reception did not know who the staff member in question was.

Was there for a business meeting and can commend staff in charge of meeting rooms, audiovisual equipment, etc. for being efficient, knowledgeable, polite and very professional. Lunch and drinks catering also went effortlessly and right on time.

Overall okay. Beds very comfy (for me the most important aspect of any hotel) and bed linen impeccably clean. Would be nice to have wi-fi in the room (free wi-fi in lobby painfully slow). Given the price I would advise going to the Delta one block away if the room is used only for sleeping and save C$60-70 per night in the process.

I stayed at the Hilton Bonaventure the last week of October. Unfortunately, my room had no heat. They gave me some space heaters as the hotel was sold out which made the room warm enough although they once flipped the circuit breaker. I think that they could have done more to compensate, though in that I stayed 5 days and they gave me 20% off of 2 days, which I think was a bit cheap of them. It has a nice gym and the executive lounge breakfast was well stocked as well as the attendant was extremely helpful making me a latte every morning. Good selection of appetizers in the evening, but unlike many executive lounges, the alcoholic beverages were not free.

Although I would have liked to try it, it has a year round outdoor heated swimming pool and I think that is a big draw for this hotel. It also is built as the penthouse in a large office building and the rooftop is done as a nice garden with paths plants and trees. It makes for a nice oasis even though you are in the middle of the city.
