“Quality Business Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

I had a good stay in the Hilton Bonaventure. Rooms were nice, location is excellent and the service was very good. The good gym was a nice plus although its a bit of a hike to get to. Really good business facilities. The hotel is really showing its age but the rooms are good and if that doesn't bother you then its a perfect hotel to stay in Montreal.

This hotel is located in a great location downtown within the pedestrian mall network and close to a Metro station. We were in a King bed room with sofa bed and it was very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The stone like hallway felt a little cold but I appreciated that in the late evenings the entrance door to your hotel section is locked for additional security and you use your room key to get in. Even without the heat on the room was warm, too warm in fact that we had to prop the window open. I would caution there can be one to many half stairs to reach your room, which could be a bit of a walk so you might want help with your luggage to your room. Upon your arrival it isn`t obvious but there is a ramp to roll your luggage to the left of the entrance doors or you have to deal with more stairs. The reception staff and concierge were very helpful and courteous. At their restaurant they have a buffet breakfast which is fairly pricey $25, with both hot and cold items which very good along with friendly service. Access to a taxi onsite was very convenient.

Room Tip: Close to Reception or the main hallway otherwise could be a long walk.

We stayed at this hotel in February and using the heated outside pool while it snowed was a wonderful treat. The room was clean and spacious and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Location was central and close to old Montreal. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed here for buisness mid February anf ound the location convenient. The hotel is set up in an unusual fashoin with rooms surrounding a pretty courtyard. They have a unique pool which is both indoors and outdoors, a real treat in the winter to swim in with the stean rising up from it! This hotel is connected via underground paths to the train station and many other shops, food courts etc...but be sure to obtain some form of map of advice before venturing out as it can get a little confusing. Old Montreal is a couple of miles from here, but a nce walk providing the weather is good. The hotel room was clean, nice linens, good television, well set up bathroom with good amenities and a decent coffeee maker. My room looked into a small park like courtyard and I had a window which opened (rare) so I could let in some fresh air.
Hotel was quiet and maid service was prompt...overall a good stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the ducks! There are a family of ducks which live in one of the courtyards and c...

Great review! Thank you for pointing out that we have windows that can be opened in the majority of our rooms. This is a rare feature in a large downtown hotel. I am also pleased that you've met our most popular year-long residents...our ducks! They are part of our family and we take good care of them. All the best and see you soon.

yes. the hotel has a great location in the city centre. and yes it even has an outdoor pool. but it really depends on why you are going there. i was there for two nights. wanting to go to bed early because of my work. also at one time wanting to rest during the afternoon. both was not possible. unfortunately my room was near the pool so all day long screaming kids ran past. and if it was not the kids it was the parents screaming after them. and if it was not the parents it was the cleaning ladies, having loud conversations in the corridors. don't forget the banging doors. it was just not possible to get some decent rest. well maybe it would be if you were deaf. and yes i did phone the reception about it. but they did not really care.

Room Tip: take a room far away from the pool!

I have been to Europe several times and know that Canada is a lot like Europe. With that said, I am more previ to American hotels. I had looked for one that I thought was more Americanized. I have to say, the Hilton Bonaventure is just that. It was neat having the staff first talk in French, but when you have that dumb look on your face, they quickly switch to English. The hotel was a typical Hilton and the expections were just as high. It was very clean and the beds were incredible. The pool was neat too since we went swimming outside when it was 30 degrees. They have a great work out facility also. My only complaint, and its very little is that it is confusing to find the hotel. It is located on the 15th floor and the elevator does not have numbers like the US one's. I would highly recommend staying here. Everything is in close walking distance and Catherine St. is a 10 minute walk, no need for a cab, trust me save your money.

This hotel is uniquely laid out in a large square on the top two floors of the building, with the bar, restaurant, and pool in the middle. The decor of the lobby is a bit dated, but the rooms are beautiful and comfortable all around. Breakfast buffet options are quite nice as well! And the bar, and bar staff were extremely nice. The claim to fame of this hotel is the rooftop heated pool, which is fantastic even when temps are low or it's snowing. Definitely recommend this as a nice place to stay on business or leisure.

Room Tip: There are stairs leading to all the hallways, so if you don't want to lug your suit case down th...
