“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

This is a boutique hotel in a great location, clean and stylish. Great value for money. The guy by the main entrance door (Michel) was extremely kind and helpful and all his dining recommendations were spot on. Well done.

“Euro-boutique/great location...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

I'm generally fond of the Germain hotels - this was my first time in the Montreal location, and while it's not as good as Germain Calgary and Germain Mercer St Toronto, it's a fine boutique hotel in a great location in Montreal if you want to be near Sherbrooke St. We were heading or the Museum of Fine Arts, just a short walk away. As usual the staff were warm, welcoming, helpful and always available. The bed was very comfortable, the lobby small but comfy (and welcoming), and breakfast very good. The restaurant in the hotel, Laurie Raphaël, is very chic (review elsewhere) but on a cold and windy winter's evening it was nice not to have to go out for dinner. The overall feel of the hotel is Euro-cool, which fits with the city. There are aspects of the hotel, particularly in the rooms, which I would describe as more cool than functional. The heating/cooling controls require an engineering or computer degree (although the fellow who brought up our luggage gave us a crash course, which we promptly forgot), and the louvered blinds, which look better than curtains, bleed in a lot of light at night. Hard to find some of the light switches too - especially in the bath room. I had to call twice to the concierge to confirm tickets for the Museum of Fine Arts' Impressionist Show, but eventually it got done.

Room Tip: Higher rather than lower if you need quiet. It's in the heart of the city.

“Nice boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

I stayed for business purpose 3 nights in this nice place. Prior this trip I have been also to the sister hotel in Quebec City. I will say clearly that I prefer the one in Quebec City than this one.

Then I was a little bit disappointed but I think that this hotel is still a very good value, great service, comfortable room but small.

The breakfast is good. Finally the service is clearly fantastic...

“Neat rooms, beds so comfy.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012 via mobile

We stayed at the Hotel le Germain in Quebec a few years ago and loved it, so we tried the Montreal version. The Montreal one is downtown, which is a great location for museums. And it's close to both the Peel and McGill metro stops, so that's convenient.
The rooms are cool, modern, and the beds are so comfy. I've never come across a glass wall between the shower and the bedroom before, but there are blinds if you're shy. Front desk very nice and efficient. Breakfast was never too crowded, the food is ok. It's plentiful, you won't go hungry. And we did use the coffee machine in the lobby for cappuccinos every time we came in from the cold. Gym is nice, small but has everything you need. Free WiFi is always much appreciated.

Dear Lookingforlunch,

Thank you very much for sharing your Germain Montreal experience with us. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. We are centrally located downtown Montreal, perfect for visiting museums, to do a little bit of shopping, exploring Mount Royal, enjoying great dinning and much more. We are very happy that you had a time to savour our great Deluxe Continental breakfast. The Laurie Raphael Restaurant always makes sure that it is fresh and very tasteful.

Thank you very much again for the great review!

Sincerely,

Dan

“lovely hotel, interesting location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

not in the old city, but right next to McGill, nice walks. We were relocated there by another hotel that had a flood and they needed to move us for a night. The room was very nice, quite spacious, very modern amenities, decent Wifi. Breakfast was excellent. The best part was that i had left a valuable leather coat at the other hotel at the end of our visit, but I wasn't sure where I had left it, and the concierge at Le Germain was super helpful in tracking it down, even though it ended up not being in his hotel. I was tremendously impressed by the effort, and want to really give them a big shout out for being so nice.
