“Overall good value for the bag”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2010

Just stayed here. Great staff and reception. Clean indeed, comfy bed. Nice location centrally located. Need to fix the slamming door though. Are all the rooms so dark ? and the bathrooms are all acceesible for the disabled ? Everytime I stay there i keep getting one. Strange layout though to access hotel. Elevator needs some freshing up and the overall renovations are needed but its still OK as the staff service and professional service make sup for it.

Dear guest, thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am glad to hear that the hotel is clean and I will pass on your comments to our cleaning team. As for our rooms, no they are not all accessible for the disabled; you have just had the coincidence of getting one several times. As for our elevators your comments are well taken and I am glad to tell you that they are currently being refurbished. And many thanks for your kind comments about us having a great staff and reception and an excellent sleep quality. We look forward to having you return soon.

With kind regards,

This is the best hotel to stay at for price and location.. Staff is amazing especially Pierre and Jamil the concierge staff and Myriam at the front desk. We have been her 20x. Live outside Montreal and go for a quick get away..Buy an Entertainment Book and get and even better deal..Also join Priority Club with Holiday Inn as you get perks at different hotels.. Here it is newspapers. access to Internet and their lounge...Other holidays have othere perks.. Also late check out... Send a PM if you have any questions..

The number 1 reason we stayed at this hotel was it's location to the Convention Centre -which was just across the street (when it's pouring rain or snow this would be a bonus). If you are looking for a "snazzy" high-end hotel to stay this would NOT be for you- the rooms are indeed "outdated" however the beds were very comfortable and every night we had a restful sleep.
The rooms were clean , the bath towels were big and thick, the front desk always friendly and could quickly switch from French to English without being rude.
In the front lobby they have a very large water pond with fish swimming around and found this to be a great oasis during breakfast buffet and after the conference in the lounge area. Breakfast buffet was decent and enjoyed all the FRESH fruit which changed everyday including strawberries and raspberries.
*Tip when booking your room try the bed and breakfast option as this would prove to be much cheaper than not..
I would recommend this hotel if you are in town for a conference but not for your honeymoon.
One more thing please- the hotel location is also very close to old montreal- no taxi is needed but do wear good shoes for the uneven cobble stoned streets.

Dear guest, thank you for having taken the time to comment on our hotel. I am glad to read that you found our beds to be very comfortable and that you had a restful sleep; indeed we recently changed all our beds. It is pleasing to know that our purchase of new towels has gone noticed and that you think they are big and thick. I will also pass on your comments to our Front Desk team that they are friendly and keep up the good work. We are looking forward to having the opportunity of serving you once again in the future.

Ideally located at equal distance from Old Town and Sainte Catherine (about 10 minutes walking).
Wonderful lobby with its chinese decor. Staff is friendly and efficient.
Restaurant is just average, even though breakfast is good enough for about 20 CAD.
But; rooms are very old fashioned and would need refurbishing, even at executive level.

We arrived in Montreal on the train and headed for the Holiday Inn Select, which is located in the Chinatown area. We got lost, of course, but, after some help from some very nice folks, we found the hotel.
At check-in the receptionist was very friendly and welcoming, gave us room number 748...VERY large, corner unit. Very clean and very quiet......The first night.
Unfortunately, on our second day there, at approximately 4PM, into room 746 there arrived 4 loud idiots who attempted to enter our room through the adjoining door. When that didn't work they went back to their loud, profane "discussion".....I took this for about ten minutes, went off to the front desk and lodged a complaint.
The Manager at the front desk immediately upgraded us to the ninth floor and, thankfully, we enjoyed our remaining two nights there.....
As for the hotel it was very clean and the staff was excellent. The rooms were very nice.....On the ninth floor we had a very nice view of the city and we could actually open the windows, which was nice. The bathroom was very spacious and clean. One complaint was about the pillows. My Wife found them to be lumpy. I didn't but then I am comfortable sleeping in a tent.....
My Wife visited the fitness centre and told me that some of the equipment didn't work.
Other than that, and the problem with the jerks in 746, we had a nice time and would recommend the hotel....Next time, when we visit Montreal, going to go for the ninth floor.....
By the way, we had dinner in the restaurant one evening and it was very good and the staff was very helpful.
Also, across the street from the hotel, there is a restaurant called the Noodle Factory.....Don't miss it. The only thing it doesn't seat many and there is a lineup to get in.

Dear guest, thank you very much for your comments about our hotel. I was very pleased to read that although you had a problem we were able to find you a solution and meet your expectations. I will pass on your kind words that our receptionist was very friendly and welcoming and that the staff and service are excellent! We are also thrilled that you feel the hotel is very clean. I must say that your comments about our fitness equipment are well taken and that we are replacing them all with brand new ones and a better variety along with new carpeting to better serve you. I loved reading your comments about the rooms and you are right to say that the windows open as they do so throughout the whole hotel. I will also pass your comments to our restaurant team that dinner was very good as well as the staff. I am glad to see you recommend our hotel and we look forward to the possibility of serving you in the near future.

I was here for a friends wedding in Septembre, Always wondered what this place would look like from the outside seeing as i saw it from the outside for over 20 years and never entered. It was surprisingly refreshing on the inside and i was very warmly greeted by Chrissy at the front desk. Nice decor, layout and the place can definitly accomodate large groups. Rooms had nice beds;however, they need some new life, the leak in the bathroom ceiling required all our towels on the floor and the ac units are old(but functional).

Service...well where to start, the staff forgot to set up the sweets table and alcohol bar in the lobby. Seeing as there was another wedding they ran out of plates and were clearing each service on trays. Yes...they actually just laid mountains of leftover garbage food on a tray and walked out with it as if they were serving it... The banquet hall was boiling during the reception and they did not allow us to open any windows whatsoever. Even within the lobby we could not open the terrace doors whether it was day or night and it only made the ventilation worse. To add injury to insult, when we asked the waiter for water, they told us we had to buy it across the street because it was not included. Keep in mind this is a 200 person wedding...the negative wow factor was through the roof with that comment.

Maybe we caught the hotel on a off night as i would still recommend people who arent money conscious to stay here because we did still have a great night, slept well and the food was delicious, i wouldnt however organise an event here myself.

I stayed at this hotel because I was attending a conference being held there. Overall, it was just OK. The rooms were very clean and the bed was comfy. Yet the rooms are rather overdue for updating (broken closet door, sporadic TV issues, peeling wallpaper). The Chinese restaurant is pretty good, but is closed Sunday and Monday. I opted to eat at the bar the night of my arrival, and the service was rather slow. Also, the "business center" computer is outrageously slow and costs $10/hr.
