“Great but very dangerous for people on bicycles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Very popular place to hang out, with restaurants museums and even a great beach complete with white sand (and salsa music on Sundays). However, there is one VERY DANGEROUS spot for bikes that the management refuses to correct (next to the corner of Jacques Cartier and Rue de la Commune). They have a chain across a dirt road that runs along a very popular bike path that is all but invisible at night. I have a good light on my bike and still slammed in to the chain one night. I wrote the management and even told two police cadets on bicycles nearby who agreed and told me they had personally seen the same thing happen to other cyclists but that the Old Port told the police cadets to get lost as they are Federal Property and therefore exempt. It's just a matter of time until someone gets hurt.

“Old Montreal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Another lovely area to wander around. I wish I'd come in summer, there is a little port-side beach that I would have loved to have spent an afternoon at. Plenty to explore here, the old time clock and lots of informational plaques.

“Pleasure for walking, cycling, sitting in a cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

As in many cities that have rediscovered their formerly industrial waterfronts, Montreal has created a rather lengthy, wide, beautiful grassy promenade. It stretches for quite a distance right down from the downtown and tourist areas. I imagine in winter it's not such a pleasure but in September it was great. Wider than many promenades in other cities, pedestrians, bicyclists, stroller pushers, dog walkers and others can very easily manage without conflict! And of course you have the spectacular St. Lawrence, the islands, bridges right in front of you.

“Don't miss the summer activities”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We went here in september, and seeemed to have missed most of the activities. Once we saw the water there wasn't much going on. The longer stretch on the east side had a nice view at night. There could be more landscape maintanence, some random parts of the port look somewhat run down.

“Beautiful views and scenery.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Beautiful scenery and the views to the rivers are excellent but nothing else unless you go with children. They have activities for kids throughout
