“Perfect place to go when you have some time to fill.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Relax, enjoy one of the many food vendors or sit on the patio at one of the nearby restaurants. You don’t need a particular address to go to or a show time to make to get the most out of this location. Beautiful buildings on one side and the history of the old port on the other, this is a great place to just relax and enjoy a little atmosphere.

Rent a bicycle, go for a stroll or hire one of the horsedrawn carriages.

“lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

We had a walk along the docks and piers, it is a wonderful way to spend a few hours sightseeing and spent some time in the marketplace.
Well worth the walk.

“Disappointing!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We spent one afternoon walking out along all the piers in the Vieux Port of Montreal and were very disappointed overall.
There was an IMAX theatre on one of them, also the Institute of Science and Technology but apart from these and a couple of restaurants, we felt they were very disappointing.
We also felt a huge opportunity was being missed by the City to create a world-class facility for tourism.
It is a very pleasant walk along the harbourfront and we enjoyed that. There is also a small bridge over to a shady and grass covered little island with trees, which is separate from the warehouses. One pier had the original warehouse still there, looking very dirty, covered in graffitti and very uninviting. Another pier had a line of red shipping containers down one side, with a few at the end as well, each of which contained a small store. Tattoo shops, tourist goods and souvenirs were all represented.
Two of the piers were essentially large car parks, with very little to recommend them at all.
A couple of the piers had a restaurant or cafe bar at the landward end - but sadly not too much else.
There was a marina between the piers and a couple of small harbour cruise boats ran from there.
I think Montreal is missing a golden opportunity to make the piers into a major tourist location here, with restaurants, bars, stores and so on, right down the length of all four piers.
