“Wow! Nice Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2007

This was a getaway vacation for one night - we were pleasantly surprised!
We booked the room through Hotwire and saved about 40$ over the hotel discounted AAA rate.
The check in was extremely pleasant, as was the room we got on the business floor - VERY comfortable beds, clean, neat and quiet.
The pool area is great - not a huge pool but generously sized. They have life jackets, floating toys, and other things for kids.

There is a Dry and wet steam, as well as a 1st class exercise room - the treadmills and ellipticals are top of the line with your own personal tv on it.

Can't say anything about the restaurants - we didn't eat there - but the lounge near the lobby looked quite tempting for a nightcap.

All in all we were a little nervous from some of the comments on tripadvisor, but don't listen to them - this is definitely a 4 star hotel.

The only downside was the $19.00 to park your car in the hotel (which is attached to Centre Desjardins, a indoor mall/office building)

I would say this hotel is perfect for a couple or a family - and the location is a 5 minute walk to the action of downtown.

Thanks!

Didn't really like this Hyatt too much.
Since I was there for a convention, I had the opportunity to check out a few rooms. Although we had non-smoking rooms, every room smelled like people had been smoking in them.

Also, the hallways were very dark. It gave it a dingy appearance.
The rooms were nothing special.

When I got to the hotel, it was a bit confusing to figure out where to check in. I asked for a room away from the elevator on the high floor. They gave me the 9th floor, one of the lower ones.

On a positive note, The service was good and so was the location, although in Montreal, I think most hotels have a good location. The lobby was comfortable and there's a great food court on the lower floors of the building.

The hotel staff is very friendly and welcoming. However, they don't always get everything right the first time. We requested two beds on our website reservation and were initially given a one bed room. After we checked out we noticed an error on our bill and had to go back and get it fixed. Then when we checked our credit card online we saw "pending" charges for both the uncorrected and corrected bill; eventually this self-corrected; perhaps, this was a credit card quirk. Our complicated alarm clock CD player had been left for us with the alarm set to go off at 7:45 am--which it did. (It took me several minutes to figure out how to turn the alarm off; I doubt they train their maids to check and turn-off alarms and there is nothing intuitively obvious about how to turn off the alarm.) At check in it was suggested that we might want to upgrade to the club floor and were told that even though the bar in the club lounge was an honor bar where we were supposed to sign for our drinks (to be charged to our room) no one checked to see if we really signed for our drinks.
The hotel occupies the lower 12 floors of a much higher building. Our first night was a high school prom night with a loud band on floor 6. On our floor 12 you could hear the band softly until about 12:30am. A quirk is that it takes 2 elevators to get to the street.
A plus is that there is a metro stop a block away and it can be reached w/o going outside if the weather is bad. (The hotel is part of a mall complex that extends underground.)
This was our second stay at the hotel and we would consider staying there again, but only for a "good deal." There is nothing special about this hotel that would make me want to pay a premium to stay there. However, despite this griping, it provided a comfortable secure pleasant friendly environment.
As a pleasure traveler I would prefer on a future visit to stay in the old city. I found it lovely to walk in, a source of great restaurants, and unlike Quebec's old city, not too tourist trappy.

We recently stayed at the Hyatt for 6 nights and had a wonderful first visit to Montreal. The location is great for almost anything. Beds were extremely comfortable and the housekeeping was spot on.
Had a bit of a hitch with the internet and was never able to resolve it although we tried and they tried, too. The pool and exercise areas were top notch. All employees were super but the concierge was the best. He got us reservations to a great French restaurant and helped book a tour by phone when we were too late to do it online.
We travel extensively and would give this hotel our highest recommendation. Very good value!

I travel to Montreal several times a year and thought I would try a different hotel to get a feel of a different part of the city. This hotel was the choice and unfortunately I regret making it.
I will start off with the positives.....the reception staff very nice and friendly when checking in.....room had a lovely view as requested of Place Des Art. The beds were alright.
The negatives.....dont know where the housekeeping staff are......was out shopping all morning and came back around 230pm and room still wasnt made up. If you wish to surf the internet using the hotels high speed make sure it is stated in your room rate otherwise you will be paying 12.95 per day. I have reviewed the website and nowhere (or atleast I cant find it) does it state that there is a charge for this service. They do list the prices for Valet Parking but the don't tell you about the internet charges. Oh but you will find out once you get into your room.

We also had breakfast in the Cafe Fleury and lets just say I am glad I didnt have to pay for that as it was part of the rate.

If you stay on any floor higher than the 5th floor be ready to have a long walk to find a vending machine to get a drink as the vending machines are only on floors 1 thru 5, ice however is on every floor....although not much good if you dont have a drink to mix with the ice

Next time I travel to Montreal I will return to the hotel that I normally frequent.

My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Montreal from 4/20-4/23/07. We enjoyed the nice comfortable bed, cleanliness of the room and friendly staff. We found the concierge and front desk staff very helpful with directions and other assistance.
The location is within close proximity of many of Montreal's attractions.
The only downside was the parking which was $25 / day. We did not use this parking; instead we parked in the adjacent mall parking for $8 for 17 hours (you must pay again if you leave the lot, but with the Hyatt parking, you can come and go as you please, but at the higher rate) for one day, and parked across the street on the other days (this only works if you are gone during the day during a weekend stay since metered parking is $3/hr).

We booked our three night stay at the Hyatt Regency Montreal through hotwire.com ($70 per night), and found it to be more than suitable for our needs. The weather was bitterly cold during our mid-April stay, but the "underground city" connects to the Hyatt was a welcome surprise, as we could find shelter from the elements, visit the petting zoo and grab some inexpensive food. The room was exactly what we were promised and there was no issue whatsoever at check-in. We chose the self-park option ($8-19/day), as opposed to the valet option ($25/day) for our car, and we only took it out of the heated (!) parking lot once to see the Biodome outside of the city. The room was spacious, and catered to all of our needs (normally budget travelers). The bathroom was updated with new tile, mirrors, recessed sink and magnification mirror, along with updated fixtures and lights. Everything was very clean. The room was also updated, with trendy bedding and furniture, which complimented the bathroom (or vice-versa). The bedding and pillows were very comfortable.

The Hyatt is located on the corner of Rue de St. Catherine, a prime spot for shopping for anything your heart desires and anything your stomach craves. It is also only blocks from Chinatown and the beautiful architecture, museums, shops, and food of the Old Port. This location was optimal for first-time visitors.
