“Absolutely fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

PROS
1. Hotel is clean, comfortable and reasonably priced.
2. Compares favorably, and in fact better, against other establishments of similar rating and room rates in both USA and Canada.
3. Room is spacious and extremely comfortable with clean and new-ish linen and towels, TV, fridge, iron and ironing board, coffee maker and free wifi which works well !!
4. Common areas include full kitchen, coin-operated laundry, lounge with TV, computer room, etc.
5. Conveniently located to shopping, restaurants and, for those keen on walking, within walking distance of the business district and many tourist attractions including Mont Royal, historic Montreal Forum, Centre Bell, McGill University and Old Montreal. Mere minutes walking to Underground City, Centre Bell and Montreal Canadiens.
6. Staff are friendly and helpful.
7. Located on route of airport bus to/from Montreal's Pierre Trudeau Airport.
8. Lobby cafe serves great food at reasonable prices.

CONS (One & Only)
No on-site car parking. However open lot parking is available around the corner for daily fee which we found reasonable considering it is city parking. From memory, I believe it Is $24 per 24 hour period.

SUMMARY
Would I stay again? You bet! Members of our immediate family have stayed at the Hotel Y on no less than 6 separate occasions between Aug and Dec 2013, some for 4 nights, and we were more than happy each time.

I have no hesitation in recommending the Hotel Y Montreal.

I am giving the Hotel Y Montreal 5 Stars, not as any suggestion of hotel star-classification, but as a reflection of our satisfaction with the establishment. A thumbs up!

A humungous thanks should you rate this review as helpful. Happy travels!

Room Tip: For quiet, request room at back facing Mont Royal.

I was positively surprised during my stay in October 2013. Rooms are very clean and spacious and the staff was friendly. It holds what it promises and met my expectations. Good value for a low budget.

The location is excellent in the downtown area and close to the Metro system, the VIA rail station, and the bus to the airport. However, it is definitely a budget hotel: the rooms are small and somewhat hot (A/C doesn't work), the floors were dusty when I checked in, and there's a coffee maker but no tea or coffee or toiletries. If all you need is a bed this is a decent choice.

Good value for the price! Recommended if you are planning to stay 2 or 3 days in Montreal. Some bad points: the hotel closes after a certain time and you have to ring in a bell so that someone can come to open the door for you. Overall is good.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms have shared bathrooms, so if you don't like to share your bathroom or go 6 flo...

This is a hotel associated to YWCA Montreal, thus it is usually crowded with young people. However it seems there are house rules that keep them quiet as we did not notice any noisy behavior. The hotel is exceptionally well located, near St. Catherine St. with its commerce, good restaurants, metro stations, tourist center, everything you are looking for to move around Montreal. Price is great too. Of course there is always the downside: the rooms are small, but have private bathroom, also quite small. There is no restaurant. All and all the value is great, if you are happy with simple quarters.

A friend and I spent two nights here on a quick getaway from Toronto. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to the métro, bars, and shopping. While we taxied from the train station, the airport bus stops practically outside the door (which will come in hand the next time I come back, as I'll be flying).

The room was impeccably neat, although on the hot side (we slept with the windows open both nights). The beds were meh, but the pillows super smooshy! We wanted to take them home with us. Our en suite washroom was also very clean.

Definitely will stay here again.
