“Great Park , Lakes and place to walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Mont Royal is absolutely beautiful. So relaxing and a lovely place to take a long walk. The lakes, birds and greenery is so beautiful. They have the observatory in Mont Royal . the view is breathtaking. You see a good view of the Island of Montreal. During good clear weather its a must to go to the observatory.

“Glorious views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

I can think of no better exercise than to enter the park by McGill University and climb the 400+ steps, along with the 'bootcamp' clubs, on a sunny Sunday morning. Justice is served when you reach the viewing terrace by the chalet because the views over Montreal are quite stunning. This is a challenge that is well worth the effort!

“Great workout and views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

It was a sunny day in Montreal and we wanted to get a different view of the city. So, we took the long walk up the stairs and it was well worth it. The views at the top were very good and the park was lively. The whole area around the Mont is energetic as it is near McGill University. Looked like a good place for a run or for biking, as well.

“Excellent Viewpoint! Beautiful View of the City!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Definitely put this on your "to do" list !! The panoramic view from the top is fabulous !!! I walked up the stairs from Avenues des Pins to the Chalet du Mont-Royal. Chalet du Mont-Royal has restrooms, a small shop and... WiFi. WiFi was a nice surprise so I took the opportunity to Skype my family to share the experience. :)

If you forgot your water bottle, you can purchase some in the vending machines (pricey, of course) or there is a water fountain. The terrace is a nice place to relax and enjoy the view. I can't rave enough about the BEAUTIFUL SCENERY (both on the way up and at the top)! You can spend a couple of hours here or easily spend the day walking around on the trails. I will go back to hike over to the lake with my sketchbook in hand.

* What to bring: your camera/iPod, walking shoes, water, sketching supplies (for artists) & (if you want) a small amount of cash for the shop.
* A note of caution on "the climb": It is a pretty steep incline (hence the beautiful view!). I live in Seattle so I'm VERY used to steep inclines (everything's on a hill here), but I did see several people huffing and puffing going up the stairs. There are plenty of places to take a break on the way up but if trekking up a steep incline is not your thing, you may want to investigate another path to the top.
