“Excellent base for Old Town exploration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

Our room (second floor street side) was quiet and comfortable, if a bit small. The AC was the quietest and least intrusive I've ever experienced. Staff, especially Michael Banks, were helpful and friendly.

You can park on the left side of François Xavier while you check in, but if the street is busy, just pull into the lot they use (just up the street and on the left) and let the attendant know where you're staying.

Breakfast was well presented and very tasty - you must try the scrambled eggs.

Check out the terrace on the sixth floor/roof. Good view of the river straight ahead, and to the left is where you would see the fireworks (the low shots are blocked by buildings). Great place to catch an evening breeze and unwind with a bottle of wine (available at the convenience store just up the street). Downside: this is where they send smokers.

What a fabulous hotel! Upon arrival Michael Banks of the hotel staff was such a pleasure to deal with. He helped us get settled, showed us to the parking (right up the street). The room was perfect. The location ideal. And the rest of the staff was very helpful in assisting us in site seeing on our first trip to Montreal. Their help was very important to us in making this a very special trip.

The breakfast was fantastic (included in the price) in a very elegant restaurant right in the hotel. The building was old (it is in the Old Town) but totally renovated. The whole place is elegant and very clean. We watched fireworks one night from the top floor deck with a great view of the lit up Notre Dame Cathedral which is about a block away. The center section of the old town is also a few blocks away as is the subway where we took a trip to Mount Royal Park and a hike up the hill for the view on a very pleasant day.

This place is by no means cheap--but worth every penny of out two night stay.

Room Tip: Any room would be good.

This hotel located in Old Montreal stands on
447 Rue Saint François Xavier, Montreal, QC
+1 514-844-1448. The hotel is on the fringe of old Montreal and therefore in a quiet section. It is about three blocks from Notre Dame and a ten minute walk to Jacques Cartier Square.
We stayed three nights in mid July. Our room on the second floor was $210 per night with an excellent breakfast included. Parking about a half block away was an additional $15 per day (approximately a 20% tax is added to the bill). The staff was excellent answering every question we had.

The hotel has a restaurant, highly rated, although we did not eat there.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the back, a small park, are quieter but really we never heard any street noise anywhere...

Communication with Auberge Bonaparte was excellent from the start. Got their last room for my dates so feared being disappointed. The structure is elegant from the outside, so warm and Welcoming in Quebec style, on the inside. Helpful staff (very!) who work with humour. Room large w good bed and linens, soaps, closet space, wide television, view to back courtyard. The bar is beautiful, discreet, quiet and excellent drinks and small bites. Breakfast full-on Quebec, immaculately served (sat at comfy window tables twice), good composition and wonderful eggs, croissant, fruit, coffee . . . Dining room warm w crisp white linens. Parking up the street, reasonable rate and in and out service. Dining room popular w Montreal folk as well as tourists. Location near everything you dream of visiting in Old Montreal. Across from Garde Manger (Chuck Hughes restaurant) and near many cafes, eateries. Rates reasonable. Home away from home. Romantic.

Room Tip: You can not go wrong. We were beside the elevator, but, like everywhere else in the hotel the room...

Sabrina and Michael are delightful.Very welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. We were going on a cruise and had taken the train to Montreal. Perfect location to both train and ship. No cab was necessary as the hotel is within walking distance to the dock. We were up graded to a suite, with court yard balcony. No fault could be found with the accommodation...we felt like royalty in such superior surroundings. The breakfast was delicious and the service impeccable. Bonaparte is situated in charming Old Montreal with its boutique shops and restaurants. One can spend hours touring this unique part of town and strolling along the board walk.
Thank you Sabrina and Michael you really know how to make guests feel special. You are a credit to the hospitality industry in general and to your employer in particular. Nothing would give us more pleasure than to be in your company again.

My Husband and I were looking for the perfect place to spend our wedding anniversary, and we found it at Auberge Bonaparte. We had eaten a few times at their restaurant and had met the charming concierge, Sabrina, of the adjoining hotel. After talking with her at length, we had decided that this would be the perfect place for a short stay to celebrate.
We were not mistaken! Bonaparte is right in the middle of beautiful & romantic Old Montreal.
It's a romantic 6-storey building, very elegant and full of charm. We had a superior room with a very big, very private terrace on the courtyard of the magnificent Notre-Dame Basilica! The terrace had a round table with 4 chairs and a lot of space and amazing views!
But best of all was the service, especially by the always smiling and friendly Sabrina. She is a great asset to this hotel. She reserved a beautiful place at the restaurant for us where we enjoyed a very nice meal with great service!
A wonderful 3-course breakfast was also included in the price.
Our deepest thanks to Sabrina, to Nicolas and the rest of the Bonaparte family.
We hope to return in the near future for another wonderful stay!

This little hotel adds to the charm of Old Montreal. It seems to be centrally located and walking distance to most of the places we wanted to visit. It's right around the corner from Notre Dame Basilica and a short walk to the old port and the shops. There are countless restaurants and shops in the area. We started our vacation here continuing on to Salem, MA.

From the moment we stepped foot inside the hotel we were warmly greeted and checked in. Michael Banks is a wealth of knowledge and interesting facts. He gave us great recommendations for dinner spots and he was right on the money!! The rest of the staff is very friendly and helpful as well.

We liked our one night stay so much that we booked 2 more nights on our way home from Salem.

The only draw back was one night we went to the hotel bar for drinks and waited for 15 minutes and no one acknowledged us, so we left. Must have been short staffed that night. Even with that being said the Auberge Bonaparte is highly recommended!

Room Tip: They have a great roof top patio with great views of the Basilica!
