“Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We second all the great reviews of this wonderful hotel and their staff. The hotel is beautiful, the staff friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable, the location is perfect. Our room (303) was on the front of the hotel looking toward the water. We couldn't see much of the harbor from our room for the trees across the street, but we could see everything from the bar on the roof of the hotel. We loved the room windows opened wide and hearing the horse-drawn carriages on the cobble stone streets. We stayed five nights and explored all of the area.

We stayed at Auberge du Vieux-Port based on the positive reviews on TripAdvisor, and we were certainly not disappointed. The accommodations are gorgeous as well as comfortable, and I can't say enough good things about the staff. Personable, helpful, knowledgeable of the area, and 100% dedicated to making our stay as pleasant as possible. We had a beautiful king room on the 4th floor, overlooking the port. The building has been lovingly restored with fine workmanship and lovely furnishings, and appointed with the highest quality linens and accessories. Nice-sized room, not cramped at all. The weather was perfect when we were there, and you could actually open the windows — a rarity in many hotels! (There were also plenty of electrical outlets for recharging computers, phones, cameras, etc., another thing you don't always find in older hotels.) Breakfast was delicious. We'll definitely be returning to Auberge du Vieux-Port next time we're in Montreal.

Auberge du Vieux Port is an ideal place to stay in Montreal. The location is ideal: in the heart of the old city. Our queen-bedded room (on the front) was delightful, the breakfast fine and the staff helpful.

This hotel was our last stop on a Canadian road trip. We definitely saved the best for last! Perfectly situated in proximity to the old city, the charm and friendliness of this hotel was exceeded only by it's cleanliness and luxurious details. Thick robes, slippers, gorgeous bathrooms and crisp, high count linens on THE most comfortable beds were just a few features making guests feel pampered and elite. There is a rooftop terrace overlooking the city to enjoy a drink before dinner and a lovely breakfast served in the hotel's tavern. The entire staff warmly and genuinely attended to the needs of it's guests and couldn't have been more accommodating. The one tiny disappointment was the toiletries provided. They had a harsh medicinal scent which was unpleasant. Easy enough to overlook but the one suggestion I would make to improve upon perfection!

I stayed here back in February and had the deal for stay one night and get the second night half off. The staff was great and helped us with everything. This is right across from the water. We had a beautiful room, I wish we had a room that looked like the picture but it still had beautiful windows and a spacious room. Thanks for the gre

Very well situated between the park bordering the St. Laurence and the Rue Saint Paul. Lovely modern rooms equipped with full size ironing board and iron, umbrella, and bathrobes and slippers! Free WiFi. Full breakfast buffet or you can order from the restaurant menu included in the room price. A tapas bar on the rooftop provides sweeping views of the port and beyond. Great place to watch the weekly fireworks competition. The staff is friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms on Rue St. Paul side are noisy, but with the window closed, it's quiet enough.

We are still astounded by what a great experience we had staying at the Auberge du Vieux-Port. When we checked in we got a room on the 5th floor and due to the high temperatures outside, the AC wasnt keeping up so we were quite warm. After asking for it to be looked at by maintenance, we were offered a new room without hesitation. Both rooms were absolutely gorgeous with their own unique features. Every staff member we encountered was beyond friendly and so helpful. Having to leave when our trip was over was the biggest disappointment of our trip, I didnt want to leave that gorgeous room!

The hotel itself is in a perfect location - within walking distance of so many shops and restaurants. We had a chance to see the fireworks on Saturday night and it was a perfect ending to our trip. We cant wait to go back to this hotel the next time we are in Montreal!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, you may want to choose a room higher up or on the river side.
