“Luxury and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

This hotel was our final stop on a tour of Quebec, and it didn't disappoint.
From the time that we were welcomed by Fred, the bellboy till the time that the same Fred loaded our car nothing was too much trouble in ensuring that we enjoyed our visit to Montreal. The location in the Vieux Port area has countless great restaurants and many interesting areas within walking distance.
The rooms were luxurious and the bathrooms indescribable!
Not a cheap stay, but well worth the experience.

Room Tip: Watch the bed corners. I cracked my ankle on the prodtruding bed corner! Ouch!!

Oliver, Veronique, Matthew... You are to be commended. THAT'S how you run a hotel. You all made us feel very welcome and comfortable on our sans kids weekend getaway:-) Charming rooms and decor helped make our stay exceptional. We hope to see you again soon!

This is a lovely hotel, and well worth the price. The rooms and lobby are at once historic (exposed brick and stone, beautiful pine doors and accents), and stylishly modern. We had a lovely view of the river, but were never bothered by noise from the street below. The staff are wonderfully accommodating -- quite possibly the best trained and most genuinely friendly hotel staff I have ever encountered, and certainly a far cry above the bland service you could expect from international 5 stars elsewhere. Location right in the middle of old port is perfect.

The only drawbacks are the beds, which are so soft that you sink in and (at least in our case) sleep badly, and the breakfast, which was uncharacteristically sloppy - weak coffee, overcooked eggs, greasy sausage. The restaurant itself is lovely, but they need to work on content.

In any case, great place - we saw only happy people here!

Dear Guest,
We are pleased to hear that you had an excellent time with us at the Auberge du Vieux Port.
We are sincerely touched by your compliments and thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
The mattresses are pillow-topped and that could be a reason for which you found it too soft. We do check and change them often to assure the comfort of the Guests.
About the restaurant, I would like to let you know that the Restaurant Manager is informed about this situation and reassure you that something will be done for this not to happen again.
We hope and look forward to welcoming you back with us.

The Staff at the Hotel could not have been more accommodating and helpful. We were a large group and they answered numerous questions and gave us much useful information. In addition, the location was perfect with many wonderful restaurants within walking distance, the water across the street and public transportation nearby. I highly recommend Auberge du Vieux-Port.

Fantastic experience! Location is ideal as we could walk to dinner and all the sights. Room was clean and modern yet full of character. Beautiful windows opening up on to a view of the river. Bathroom is one of the best with a walk-in shower (great water pressure) and separate huge soaking tub. Staff was professional and very personable. Forget the large chain hotels, we will be staying here next trip to Montreal!

Room Tip: Check for special deals on the hotel website. Spend a little more and get best room available. Worth...

First and foremost I have to congratulate the staff. Everyone at the front desk, especially Michael and Veronica, since I primarily dealt with them, were sensational. I'm sorry I do not remember the names of the others-they were all wonderful. Aside from their professionalism, they were truly friendly and so welcoming. The room was immaculately cleaned every morning and the bed, linens, and towels were all of the highest quality. We slept so well. I could go on and on about the hotel's boutique feel, the ambiance and so much more. As far as the location, it couldn't be better. Breakfast, which was included, was made to order and scrumptious. Pros- everything. Cons- nothing.

The rate might be a little high for Montreal and the parking rates a little steep, but this hotel is very nice and in an excellent location in the old port of Montreal. The room was very well maintained and decorated. The bed was great & comfortable and the furniture looked like new. The shower is the ultra modern walk in kind with massive shower head and body jets! Your windows even open so you can see the street below and hear the sights and sounds. We were there for a romantic getaway from the kids so I will add this: the blinds make the room pitch black and you can sleep in or take an afternoon nap, no problem!

Location wise you are minutes from tons of restaurants and bars. We like live muisc so we found one a block away where they had a jazzy singer and guitarist. Then we bar hopped a bit to a few other places where they had singers, pianists or guitar players. It was great as there were no cover charges, the mood is relaxed and the crowds are very managable compared to downtown. There is also a subway access nearby, but we did not take it.

They have a complimentary breakfast which is pretty decent fare. You can order some extras if you are willing to pay. The service and staff were very friendly and as usual with Montreal, everyone speaks great English.

In my opinion this is more an 'adult' type hotel, but kids could survive it for a few days!

Room Tip: They actually own two buildings side-by-side. These are connected. We wanted to sleep in and just re...
