“Fabulous cuisine, warm and professional service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

We found Les Pyrenees last year in Old Montreal and set out to find it again it was so good. To our dismay we thought it was gone, but lucky us, they had just re-decorated and the menu still proposed the fabulous Basque cuisine. My husband and I were so delighted with the Assorted Tapas as a starter, chorizo in a tangy grain mustard sauce, a lovely salad of sweet pimento with mussels, duck pate and a grilled calamari tapa. We asked our charming waiter Maxim for his favorite wine to go with the Cassoulet we ordered, Bingo! a Bandol from Provence that was so perfect with the rich combination of duck, pork, canneloni beans with the perfect crusty topping served in a casuela. We were in "foodie" heaven! The food, service and warmth of our waiter Maxim made this a meal and night to remember, two days later we had luncheon there and they presented our table of 3 with a fabulous dessert display complete with sparklers!!! We shall look forward to returning next year, same time. Bravo, a perfect experience. Merci

“Great staff and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We phoned ahead and changed our time. When we arrived the table was not ready but even though it was us that had messed them around they provided the six of us with a free drink while we waited. The staff are just great, from the Spanish owner to our Cuban waiter. Witty and efficient. The setting is perfect in the Old Town, charming and atmospheric. The starters were great particularly the goats cheese in filo, BUT the highly recommended paella that we all ordered was dry! I'm sorry to say it but it was! Such a shame, an almost perfect restaurant.

“Yummy food in the Old City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

If you want some variety besides just French check this out. It does have French dishes and the Cassoulet was delicious. I had the paella which is big enough for two and it was excellent. It was pretty garlicky but a generous amount of mussels, shrimp, scallops, etc. The menu is pretty extensive and includes tapas and regular complete dinners. The service was excellent and the waiters very chatty. The wine list was also good and very reasonable. Would definitely recommend you give this a try.

“Good food, perfect service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

Nice little place in the old part if Montreal. Thrle food is average good without being too pricy, but what really sets this place apart from the rest is the welcoming, frindly and funny staff that treat you like a VIP. Great place...try it out!

“Great service. Less then mediocre food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

The good news was that as a party of 4, we were able to be seated immediately at 8:30 on the Saturday night of a long weekend.

The menu looked good, and the wine list was great.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food. Three of us ordered the daily specials. The porkchop was dry, pork cheeks were like shoe leather, and the duck was rubbery. The fourth guest who ordered one of the vegetarian options made the best choice - her food was excellend.

However, the service was excellent - friendly and attentive, and they had several good, reasonably priced bottles of wine on the list ($32 for a very tasty Spanish Cab Sauv).
