“Good downtown hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

Good location in the heart of the city and right close to McGill, restaurants, shopping. Good quality for the money and lots of amenities. Pool, hot tub, gym, wifi , bar and restaurant. Parking is extra, however recommended as it is very hard to find parking in the city.

Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Montreal Centre is a traveller-friendly hotel. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable, with good beds, armchairs and a large desk. There is coffee maker, fridge and microwave in each room. Although there is good lightning at the desk and at bedside tables some rooms may be dark as there is no ceiling light. A minor inconvenience. There is an ironing board and iron in the room and washing machines/dryers for the guests on every floor. As I said, traveler friendly.
The Hotel provides bottled water in the rooms and, in the afternoons, coffee and fruits in the lobby. The Hotel restaurant serves good and reasonably priced food. The staff every where is helpful, friendly and multilingual. The hotel is centrally located, in the vicinity of Place-des-Art and Metro stations. Even in bad weather one can enter the underground city in a five minute walk from the hotel. There one can walk for kilometers, shop, eat, attend concerts and exhibitions without fighting the elements.
For these reasons we would stay in the Hilton Garden Inn Montreal again. We recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with large window.

Spent 3 nights at Hilton Garden Inn. Rooms were clean and large with microwave and fridge. The salt water pool and jacuzzi were great. Restaurant was amazing. Location is just minutes away from great shopping. Travelled with teen girls and they loved it...

Room Tip: Breakfast voucher are well worth the money on the packages

We really really enjoyed this hotel. Its excellent value for the price, and its clean, modern, and has excellent amenities. Our favourite part was the pool. The pool is on the 11th floor and its salt water. The dark blue tiles and salt water make it feel like an ocean. The hot tub is huge so its rarely too full for you to hop in.

Our room was huge. We had a fridge and microwave and there was a Keurig coffeemaker as well. The flatscreen TV was wall mountable and moveable to optimize viewing when lying in bed.

The hotel is very secure. You can't even use the elevator or ice machine without your room key. We felt very safe.

The location of this hotel is great too. If you walk down Rue Bleury you can grab the Metro at the Places Des Arts station on the Green Line. You are only one or two stops from all the action downtown. I'd recommend by an occasional pass for the transit nd using the subway. You can buy a 3 day pass for $18 from a vending machine in any metro station.

Room Tip: Buy a Metro pass for the subway and travel fast to all the local attractions

I stayed at this hotel recently while traveling on business. The location is fantastic. There are restaurants in every direction. St. Catherine Street, with its restaurant, shopping and "other attractions" (not that I partook of those) is only a couple blocks away.

The hotel restaurant is convenient and serves surprisingly good dinners for a Hilton Garden Inn. Since it was snowing for much of the week, I ate there a couple times and enjoyed it. The lobster pasta dish was particularly good. Breakfast is also quite good, with a nice continental selection or a choice of hot options.

My room was surprisingly large. I'm quite sure I didn't need such a big room, but my colleagues also commented on their room sizes, so I guess it's the norm. The king-size bed was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was spacious. My only knock on it was that in the shower, there were no shelves. Why is this simple feature so often overlooked in hotels? It seems that I am often resorting to putting my shampoo bottle on the floor. It's just weird. Overall, my room was quiet and I slept well.

There is a nice fitness facility on the 11th floor. It has most things you could ask for in a hotel of this caliber to get a work-out in during the week. I didn't use the pool, but I did go to see it. It's small but nice.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. I can't say that I was tremendously impressed by anything in particular, but I can't say I ever felt like I was wanting for anything either. Front desk personnel and cleaning staff seemed efficient and effective. It's a solid choice for a business trip. And, for vacationers, the location is excellent.

On arrival at this hotel from a long flight, I was given my keys to check in, after which I was informed that there would be no water in the building from 10 pm to 5 am. Having a very important job interview the following morning, this was extremely inconvenient. On sharing this concern with staff, I was given curt response and nothing was done to compensate for this issue. I would give this hotel a zero on staff friendliness/approachability, value for the stay, as well as general customer service.

Dear Michelle K,

We thank you for taking the time to write a review and to provide feedback regarding your recent stay. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at our property.
Upon arrival, the situation with the water shutdown was explained to all hotel customers by our Front office clerks, together with a letter providing all details. This water shutdown was mandatory from the City of Montreal, due to new law enforcing all commercial buildings to have water meters installed.
We are always striving to provide great customer service to all our guests, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve your future lodging needs.
