My girlfriend and I arrived in Montreal during the worst snow storm the city had experienced in the past 40+ years and after getting to bed late the night before (due to luggage misplaced by our airline) we were hungry for a nice breakfast.
We were staying upstairs in the Hotel and decided that Le Montrealais for breakfast would be able to re-energize our spirits after a long difficult day of traveling the day before.
We were warmly welcomed by the host (in both French & English) who asked if we would like a table with a view near a window. It provided a beautiful view of the city with its fresh (heavy) blanket of snow. Although it was visibly cold outside we were quite comfortable inside with no drafts or chills off the windows (which sometimes happens).
We were quickly greeted by our waitress who explained that they're know for their breakfast buffet which includes virtually everything on the a la carte menu (except waffles). She was very friendly and helped to start our morning off in a very positive way. She already had a pitcher of fresh orange juice in her hand, she must have somehow known that neither my girlfriend nor I drink coffee. We decided on the buffet and she invited us to begin whenever we were ready.
The selection of items was impressive! I particularly noted that they offered poached eggs, which I often order a la carte but have never seen offered at a buffet. Turkey bacon & sausage was a nice offering too in addition to both traditional pork styles. My absolute favorite at any Fairmont Hotel is the smoked salmon! It is always amazing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast as well as the brief conversation with our waitress who described how to get around town using the subway & subterranean walkways that attach to the hotel, which saved us from hiking through the snow.
The atmosphere, the food and especially the service were all top notch & I would certainly visit them for breakfast again.
