Whenever I bring someone to Cosmos who has never been there before, I warn them, "this place is a literally a hole in the wall, expect to be shocked, and have the best breakfast EVER!". Cosmos is like no other place, it's a small counter, with less than 10 seats. Weather permitting there are tables outside. I took a co worker today. We walked in to a packed sit down counter, and several guests sitting outside. Nick was on the grill today,(Nick and his sister Nicky alternate days) As we walked in to this greasy spoon, Nick shouted out I AM THE BEST, which he is! Everything is made fresh right in front of you, nothing is pre cooked, re heated or microwaved, (they don't have one). We watched Nick, make the hash browns like a artist. He took freshly boiled potatoes, skin on, and pressed them against the grill, and mixed onions, margarine and some kosher/sea salt and pepper and constantly flip them wit a paint scraper! Next right in front of us he put down all beef salami and made our eggs exactly as we asked for them. Things sometimes can get very loud, in several languages at once and everyone can become a server by default. They are famous for their mish mash, creation sandwiches, and their good morning burgers. Cosmos is a Montreal institution, one of the very true old School greasy spoons.
