MADISON in LAVAL in front of the Carrefour Laval shopping center.
Friday afternoon I took my 2 1/2 year old daughter.... "Madison" , my 5 year old son and my parents to dine at a local eatery near home. My suggestion, since I have young kids I wanted to try Madison's due to the proximity to home, the fact that it's a family restaurant and because of my daughter's name ... my kids would find it amusing and get a kick out of it !!! Well we all found it amusing alright .... not in a good way! I made it a point to have early diner not to disturb the evening crowd since with children most of you know we never know what could happen towards the end of the day when they start getting tired... So along we go. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by 2 very nice young ladies that commented on my daughter's name and assigned us to our table...So far so good... it stopped there. They sat us in the middle of the restaurant and 3 other tables were occupied the rest of the place was still empty... Along comes the waiter..... when he saw us with the 2 kids ( still SILENT and well behaved .. i might add) Just ROLLED his eyes at me and said with his hand on his waist " A suppose you'll need a high chair" in a very smug, sarcastic and looked bothered by our presence !! So right away my dad who's been in the business for 45 years and head of a couple of major hotel in Montreal just gave me the look of horror....but just answered no thanks and still didn't make much of it!! Next I asked the waiter if it would be possible to order the kids meals since as soon as we sat down and gave us the menus he ask if we wanted to place the order ..... YES didn't even get a chance to find out or open the menu at this point!!! ... wait it get's better !!! So he keeps on repeating what we would like to drink.. So i said mineral water (Perrier) my mom a soft drink and my dad was still undecided on the wine he always drinks wine with his meals ( keep in mind we just sat down barely) so my dad request 2 minutes to glance over the menu ( wine & food) ... 1 minutes later here he comes not even looking at us said with a very condescending undertone in his voice if we wanted to "Finally" order . So my dad orders 1/2 bottle of wine since he's alone drinking... So then the waiter comes back this time telling us that they are out of this 1/2 bottles of wine if my dad ( a very distinguished looking well groomed in a suit man) get ready for this "So what's your budget, maybe the house wine is better for you"........................ at this point we are both looking at each other and almost got up and left on the spot. My dad was about to tell him "I don't choose wine based on price but on taste
I told him in my language not say anything since the kids food hadn't been served yet. Please note that next to us was a very nice and friendly couple dressed like they came straight from the Beach (Passing no judgement ) ... At this point I was to embarrassed to leave and felt bad for the kids since they we're enjoying the outing. So I ordered the Madison chicken felt like it was microwaved chicken with a low end canned sauce, the ribs were dry and the sauce on the pasta for my daughter was still partially frozen and tasted really bad.... and trust me I've eaten in lots of restaurants from diners, drive-in and dives to 5 stars places but never, never got this type of a rude service and bad food.... It was so disappointing it was one bad thing after the next.... at least the kids shared nuggets and they were good and they had fun at the pet shop next door so in all it wasn't a complete failure.... but a little expensive for dried ribs, microwaved boiled like chicken and past due frozen tomato sauce... 125$....
