I'm not prone to superlatives, but this restaurant is the finest, authentic, Italian cuisine that I have experienced in Canada. There was a wide selection of antipasti that reflected Italy and PEI local specialties. The "Mussels in Love", a pernod cream sauce, were particularly superb in taste and generous in number. The pasta course included a wide range of selections based on home-made pasta by someone who knows how to make terrific pasta and cook it to perfection. Again, the servings were generous and the flavour combinations perfectly balanced. The main entrées again reflected the Italian and Island connections with many local favourites (glazed salmon, scallops, and other seafoods) and some offerings rarely found in --Atlantic Canada (Quail!). To top it all off, the desserts were spectacular--ample servings without being too large, exquisite taste and several being gelato based. The ambience was perfect, the service exceptional (we preferred our server to the second on site), and the owner/chef toured around tables checking that everything was satisfactory--even filling water glasses if he thought necessary. Excellent wine list and fine house wines. What more could one want? We definitely want to enjoy this exceptional restaurant again.
