Description: The Merchantman Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar is a warm, cozy and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant has undergone a beautiful renovation and in doing so all the original 130 year old brick has been restored throughout the building. We strive to provide fresh and local product to the best of our ability. The Merchantman excels in seafood, and local favourites. If its Oysters that your after, look no further, our raw bar has a wide selection of local Oysters from Malpeque Bay all the way to Colville Bay and everywhere in between. So the next time your looking for a great evening out, be sure to stop by the Merchantman!

“All round excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2015

Attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere and reasonable prices. The seafood chowder was the best we have experienced, and the house speciality - fried hallibut - was delicious. Highly reccommended.

“Okay at best......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2015

Dropped in for a quick bite of lunch. Neither terribly impressed or disappointed with this restaurant....but compared to the mussels we have had in other restaurants, they came up short. Better to walk further up the street for excellence than to settle for conenience to the convention centre.

“WONDERFUL SEAFOOD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2015

I have bee in this restaurant in April 2015. The restaurant is on the main street and very easy to be reached. In addition not far away there is a large car parking. The restaurant was full, and despite we didn't have reservation, the table was ready for us (6 people) in 10 minutes. The ambient is very typical but quite confortable. The waitress was very nice and polite and we ordered seafood. Personally I had a wonderful lobster (even if the season was not the most indicated) and my colleagues had scallops and oysters. All food was more than excellent. The selection of beers is large and the wine list offers a good choice (even if expensive). In general an excellent restaurant. The price is not cheap but it is absolutely worthwhile.

“Good pub food, great friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2015

Dropped by here for lunch today as it is right across the street from the Delta Prince Edward. We were very happy with the service and the food.

Our server James was friendly and efficient. He recommended some local beer for us to try and it was very good. It was a cool and rainy day in Charlottetown and their seafood chowder and butternut squash soup really hit the spot. I then had the lobster roll and my husband had the fish and chips - both were very tasty.

The price was certainly reasonable. We would definitely return while we're in town for our conference this week.
