“Best place to stay in Charlottetown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2010

I selected the Islander after reading Trip Advisor reviews. They were all correct in that this centrally located, comfortable and convenient suite hotel was one of the best I stayed in on my 9 day Canada trip. I chose the second floor front suite with jacuzzi (cannot remember room number but may be 212). It was luxurious with fabulous linens and a soft brown leather couch, big screen TV and lots of space! The incredible breakfast made my stay even better with lots of fresh fruit and fresh baked goods. The staff was friendly and helpful giving me great restaurant and tourism advice. I was able to park my Harely right in front making loading/unloading very easy! My friends stayed around the corner at the Rodd Charlottetown. They were not impressed as its an older property with small rooms and dated furnishings.

This Charlottetown hotel (motel) is very nice with great beds, helpful staff and nice breakfasts. It's not on the main drag but just a block or two from it.

We had excellent service. The rooms are all new and they are going to be redoing new windows and outside of the building. The beds were so comfortable and the bathroom is huge with a jetted tub. It is about a block and a half off the main drag of Queen street. Which has all the pubs, shopping and a close walk to the waterfront. Free parking, free breakfast and fresh chocolate chips cookies all day and night!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2010

I just returned from a few days in picturesque Chartlottown and was impressed by my time at the Islander. During our stay, the hotel was at full capacity (with regis and kelly being in town) and the hotel handled the guest load with grace.

The Islander is motel-like in that you enter the rooms from the open air. This isn't a concern given PEI is so safe. The hotel has been recently renovated and the contemporary decor is holding up well.

I loved my stay at The Islander for the following reasons:
- free wireless
- included breakfast (with nice quiches in addition to continental-style offerings)
- location in that you can walk to the ocean and restaurants from the hotel
- the king bed in the room was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever stayed on
- free parking
- the service was lovely
- it was fairly affordable
- whenever I called or emailed the hotel prior to arriving, the response was always friendly and prompt
- no, there's no ocean view, but you can get that by walking to the harbour

The only thing I noticed which wasn't perfect was a few minor stains on the sheets, but that wasn't much of a concern to me.

I enjoyed my stay at the Islander because it is easy walking distance to the downtown attractions, the room was comfortable (and included high-speed internet, vital for me) and the staff were very helpful.

During an unscheduled trip to Charlottetown to visit the Veterinary College with our sick dog, we ended up staying here. We stayed two nights and were very happy.

While apparent that it's not a new property, the rooms and common areas have clearly been completely renovated. A slick lobby greets you with slate, leather sofas and a modern green and black pallet. The rooms were basic, but well appointed, clean and newly furnished. The highspeed wireless internet worked well and we couldn't complain about the included breakfast.

The biggest asset this place had was the great service. All our requests were met with ease (extending our stay, printing a document, sending a fax) and the staff were quite friendly and helpful. We were exceptionally impressed to find the snow cleared off our car when we went to leave, a staff person was outside cleaning the evening's snow off the cars in the lot! A very nice touch.

The only flaws we could find were that the property could be a touch noisy, the walls simply were a bit thin in the older property. That being said, it really wasn't something that caused us to lose sleep

Nice, friendly staff. Comfortable, clean rooms. Breakfast variety was wonderful and delicious. Afternoon, freshly baked cookies were a bonus!
