“Banbridge Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We were very pleased with this motel since it was moderately priced and on the highway. Noise was not an issue and the location was good for exploring PEI. The suite was cottage-like with a kitchen and separate bedroom. Sean was a fountain of info and his restaurant recommendations were excellent. There is a lot of open space and BBQ grills for people who want to hang out. We were entertained by a fox and her two kits that live down by the stream at the back of the property. Would recommend to vacation travelers.

Room Tip: The inn is single story so the higher numbered suites (up to 12) and the motel rooms are farthest fr...

I am glad you were pleased with your stay at the Banbridge and felt we offered good value. Our guests often tell us how much they enjoy the peace and quiet here. Surrounded by many of the larger chain hotels, we're a 5 acre green oasis on Capital Drive. Just to clarify for potential guests reading this, Capital Drive is not a highway. It is a two lane street and the gateway to the city center with easy access to all points north, south, east and west. You're right, it is a great location to base yourself as you explore our island. And yes, there is often wildlife activity on our grounds and by our creek. It is a constant source of entertainment. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I hope you will come and stay with us again soon.

Sean, the owner of the inn, was extremely helpful in answering all of our questions about Charlottetown and PEI. This really helped us maximize our time during this first visit to PEI! Our room was very clean and serviced every day. We would recommend this to anyone visiting PEI for the first time.

We love living here on Prince Edward Island and we love sharing our intimate knowledge of all the special places here that are a 'must see', especially for our first time visitors. I hope you will come and stay with us again soon. No matter how often you return to the island to revisit the places which have become special to you, we'll always have someplace new for you to discover. Thank you for choosing the Banbridge for your first visit to beautiful Prince Edward Island!

We expected a decent 2 star motel and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and outfitting if each room (we had the suites).

We try to support the independents and in this case - Sean and his wife were excellent hosts.

Although located along the trans Canada it was quiet in our rooms.

There was a community bbq to use and a nice common area for sitting.

Would recommend.

I am glad the Banbridge proved a pleasant surprise and thank you so much for supporting local independent accommodations. We have been a family business for a very long time and take pride in offering quality accommodations at a reasonable price. This is what it was like long before the Holiday Inns, Comfort Inns. And Super 8's. And although the major chains are a welcome and necessary addition to our local industry, we enjoy offering our guests a traditional 'Island' accommodation and hospitality experience. Charming, comfortable and unique.

I just want to clarify a couple of points for our potential guests reading this. We are not situated on the the Trans Canada Highway. We are on Capital Drive, the gateway to beautiful downtown Charlottetown. Also, we are actually a 3.5 star accommodation as rated by Canada Select, our national grading system. However, I hope we would still prove to be a pleasant surprise as a 3.5 star property!

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments and thank you very much again for supporting quality, local accommodations. We appreciate it!

Went down last minute and was please to have it available. The service was good and the room was clean. Wifi included. They had a beautiful and big green area. They even had a few propane bbq's for their clientele. This place is not fancy but it's very charming. Almost a "cottage" atmosphere. It's close to everything and the price was decent :)

Room Tip: Apparently they will have suites available at a good price--will try it next time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to pass on your comments. I am glad you were comfortable in one of our suites and enjoyed having the well equipped kitchen. As soon as things quiet down for the season here, my family and I will go and visit your beautiful island, Cape Breton. It is actually amazing how many tourists will visit both Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island on the same holiday. We often get people who have just come from there or who are going there next. Two Islands and two very beautiful and very different experiences. I hope you come back and stay with us again soon.

The Banbridge Inn is one of the best summer values you will find in Charlottetown. We were upgraded to a one bedroom suite for just $10 extra a night - marvellous queen-size bed, comfortable sitting area and a neat little kitchen. The patio area is perfect for morning coffee or an afternoon read. There is a large green space in front of the hotel with chairs and tables for relaxing and socializing.
Service was friendly and courteous, and the owner was very helpful in finding tourist destinations.
It has a generous parking area (very important in Charlottetown, especially if you're driving a Dodge Ram!).
A most comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The suites are our specialty and we really want our guests to experience them especially if they are staying more than one night. There's lots of space for relaxing after a day of sight-seeing or spreading a map out on the table to plan the next days adventure. Even if you don't want to do a lot of meal preparation, its nice to at least have the option. Eating 3 meals a day in a restaurant is not only hard on the pocket book but can also be hard on the stomach! Having a fridge is also very convenient. We do a lot of traveling during the off season and we try to make our rooms everything we would want on our vacations. Number one being spotlessly clean, then a comfortable bed and good shower. All in a comfortable and well equipped room at a rate where we feel we are getting good value.

We are very fortunate to have an excellent core staff that have been working here with us for more than 20 years. Our staff are not only friendly and polite, as you noted, but also excel at their jobs. They know that the high standards of cleanliness we want maintain at the Banbridge are priority one and they consistently provide that for us. We appreciate and value their dedication and take pride, along with them, in the knowledge that our reputation as a clean and well maintained property is unsurpassed with travelers and within our industry.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I hope you will come stay with us again soon!

This is not an Inn. Clean but very small rooms. Paper thin walls - People came home at 1 AM and talked until after 2 AM. Few TV channels. No breakfast. $129 less $10 Seniors discount. Not worth the price.

Room Tip: We like B&B's and after that an Inn but this is no Inn!

Yes, we are a motel. As a small family-run business for 46 years, I can assure you that guest satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. You raised a number of issues in your review and I would like to respond to each of them.

We are advertised in all our print and online affiliations as a motel (Prince Edward Island’s tourism website, TripAdvisor, booking.com, Priceline, Expedia, Hotels.com, hotwire, banbridgeinn.com, etc). So I am not sure how you arrived at our property thinking that we were an inn. Nevertheless, when you arrived and realized that we were not an inn, we would have gladly assisted you in locating that type of accommodation. There are many beautiful historic inns and B&B's in the city.

With regards to the noise, this is simply not a comment we have heard. Our guests regularly share how pleased they are with the quiet and comfort our accommodations provide. If you were experiencing unreasonable noise a call to the front desk would have allowed us to address that issue.

We offer a full compliment of over 70 TV channels. Again, if you were experiencing difficulty operating the TV, we could have resolved it easily had we known.

The room you booked did not include breakfast. Most of our rooms are self-catering suites with fully equipped kitchens.

As for the size of the room, please allow us to upgrade you to one of our spacious suites next time.

We offer a very fair rate for the quality and value provided. The rates we set are based on the product we deliver and are competitive with other accommodation rates within the city. A lot of travelers arrive on the island in August, during peak tourism season without having booked ahead. During this time accommodations charge full peak season rates and there is limited to no availability. If you are traveling on a budget we recommend traveling in the off-season.

Thank you for noticing and appreciating the high standard of cleanliness we maintain. We make it a priority. We take pride in the fact that we are consistently one of the cleanest and best-maintained properties graded by our national grading system, Canada Select.

I am sincerely sorry that you did not communicate your concerns with us at the time but I hope you will return and give us the opportunity to have you experience the same satisfaction that many thousands of guests have experienced with us over the years.
