“GREAT stay - a place with real charm!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2009

As a recent graduate from a University in Toronto, my boyfriend and I decided to take a road trip through the East Coast to celebrate. We stayed in the compact yellow room which was a great size for us and a great deal considering the price. The house was absolutely charming, comfortable, VERY clean and welcoming. The breakfasts were delicious (especially those delicious cinnamon rolls) and way better than anything you will pay for at a local restaurant. When we arrived we were a little apprehensive not knowing whether or not we were going to fit in there (due to our age), but one of the owners made us feel very comfortable as she chatted away to us and asked us a bunch of questions about our journey. As we were checking out, she gave us some extra cinnamon rolls for the road which was so sweet (and we sure enjoyed them!). We had a wonderful time at the Heritage Harbour House Inn and would be happy to return anytime!

I hope the new b&b down the street is up and running successfuly! Thanks again for a great time :)

We spent two nights at the Heritage Harbour House Inn based on previous Trip Advisor reviews, and were not disappointed. I had looked at the Delta Prince Edward which may be closer to the waterfront but quite a bit more expensive. The Heritage Harbour House is a very doable 10 minute walk to the waterfront where we enjoyed free outdoor entertainment one evening on Peake's Wharf. Mike, the Innkeeper, was very helpful prior to our arrival and during check-in with restaurant recommendations. He even let me use the phone at the front desk to make a local call since my cell phone wasn't working and our room wasn't ready for our early arrival. Based on his advice I had booked a dinner reservation at The Pilot House which was outstanding. We went to Flex Muscles for lunch, again one of his recommendations. I will admit that my husband groaned at the second floor room location which meant hauling the luggage up the stairs, but the standard queen room was extremely clean with a tub/shower, a sofa for TV viewing, comfortable bed, and an AC that kept the room sufficiently cool. There was adequate parking, and my husband used the computer available to guests. The breakfast choices were wonderful and included muffins, cereals, and fresh fruit--the service was outstanding. A different warm dish offering was served each day. Sitting at one of the larger tables afforded us an opportunity to talk with other quests. We definitely would recommend the Heritage Harbour House Inn to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay in Charlottetown.

In a leafy section of the city near the water and within walking distance of the downtown restaurant and harbor areas this B&B is a quiet and comfortable option for staying in Charlottetown.

Plenty of off-street parking is convenient. Our room was on the top floor of the original part of the home, under the eaves. The bad news is that getting to the room required walking up two flights of stairs since Harbor House does not have an elevator.
Outside of missing an elevator, our B&B experience was a good one. Our room featured a (hard) queen-sized bed, a small flat-screen TV, desk, phone, free WiFi, room-controlled central heat thermostat and air conditioning. The bathroom, while a decent size, offered a shower that would be a snug fit for someone overweight. My wife had difficulty shaving her legs given the shower's configuration. The shower did pass my 3-star system with good water pressure, good drainage and good temperature control (although it sometimes took a while for the hot water to get hot).

Breakfast is served from 8:00 – 9:30. The breakfast offerings included scones, cinnamon rolls, yogurt, juices and different breads. Today's hot offering was salmon quiche with fresh fruit. The quiche was very nice as were the other home-made offerings and the fruit was fresh and tasty.

The B&B offers a guest internet connection with a printer, ice machines and a fridge with drinks sold on the honor system.

Overall, this pretty B&B provided us with an enjoyable stay and I would recommend it to travelers looking for a nice property in Charlottetown.

Thank you for your positive comments!

It's rare to see the same room reviewed twice by two different guests (Compact room, 1 Queen bed, private 3pc bath!)

About the bathroom: Yes, the Compact rooms do have smaller, 3pc baths instead of the normal 4pc baths that Standard Rooms contain. However, I am happy that our shower passed your three point test!

Thank you for mentioning the cooler in our basement where drinks can be purchased on the "honor system," meaning guests can simply drop a dollar in the box and take what they like. It's a great convenience for thirsty guests!

We hope your stay on PEI was an enjoyable one. We hope to see you again!

Cheers

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and wished we could have stayed more. We were attending the Festival of Lights and looked for a place that was close to downtown and affordable. The Heritage Harbour House Inn is just steps from downtown and you can't beat the price. We stayed in the Queen compact room which was still a good size. It had a small fridge in the room and a nice bathroom. Outside our room was a kitchenette where we could make tea and there was also a big fridge and a microwave. Breakfast each morning was delicious. The staff were super friendly and made us feel at home, the room was very clean and quiet and there was lots of parking. Our entire time here was absolutely a positive experience.

Thank you for your positive review!

About the Compact room: Thank you for the lovely pictures you took of the room (they are almost better than the ones on our website!) We are glad that you felt comfortable inside the Compact Room with 1 Queen bed, and a private 3pc bath.

Thank you for mentioning the common kitchenette area where guests can make tea and coffee, and prepare small goods in the microwave!

We hope you had a pleasant stay during the Festival of the Lights here in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We hope to see you again!

Cheers

I have visited many places in the world and have to say that this is one of the nicest places I have stayed. The hosts are so friendly and make sure your stay is as private as you want it to be. We met so many interesting people there. The breakfast time was a great oportunity to meet people and the staff were so kind not to mention the delicious food. They wanted to make sure your breakfast time was a winderful experience and it always was. The location cannot be better. You can walk to just about any where in Charlottetown. Driving out to the country side was simple. We rented a junior suite and so we were able to buy local seafood and cook in our room. It was great...the mussels were wonderful. We stayed for 3 days and 4 nights but to be honest I wish we would have stayed longer. We love Prince Edward Island and will be back. When we go back we are staying at Heritage Harbour House. Thank you for a great experience.

Thank you very much for your positive review! We were more than happy to have you here with us, in the Junior suite...or what we call "The Rose Room."

Thank you for featuring such great photos of our front yard...the breakfast table, and the breakfast nook located in your suite! I'm sure your vacation was filled with great memories here on Prince Edward Island, and we are so honoured to be a part of it!

We look forward to have you and your partner here again with us, as it was a real joy having you here. We are anxiously awaiting your return!

My husband and I have stayed here two years in a row and would be this year except for the fact they were totally booked up for the time period we wanted . The Inn is very conveniently located, only two or three blocks from the Confederation Center, to which we could easly walk ----the car was left at the Inn's parking lot , safely off the street and did not have to worry about it. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent.---incidently, I would like to comment on the othe poster's comment about not having a cheese board or meats out. --- this isnt Europe! The breakfast that is given leaves absolutely nothing to complain about. And to the other person complaining about getting a call from the management regarding the noisy kids, I say , good for them to call and address the situation. I wouldnt appreciate having to hear noisy kids at that time of night. I"d be complaining to the management myself about them. Kids that age should not be up that late making a noise. We will continue to book with the Harbour House Inn.!

Thank you so much for your positive review of our location.

We are terribly sorry that we could not accommodate you this year, but we hope you found suitable reservations here on our Gentle Island, PEI.

I appreciate your comments about our breakfast! You're right, this is not Europe, however, we are working on a cheese board platter anyways, as our European demographic has been increasing! We just need more research on the topic! Best to leave everyone happy, and feeling like they are home!

Thank you for commenting on the noise issue. Your mature perspective on the issue is greatly appreciated.

We look forward to be of service to you next year!

We stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer. The owner was very friendly and as a bonus, spoke Spanish. We were only able to stay in the bedroom with Twin beds as everything else was already full. However, the room was very comfortable, full of amenities and the in suite bathroom, although small,it was perfectly cute. Tastefully decorated, well located, great breakfast, with available parking; we would definitely return.
