“Excellent B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Shipwright Inn. We stayed for three days in the Purser's Room - a lovely room with access to an upstairs balcony. The staff was very friendly, food was gourmet and delicious. They have 24hr access to lemonade, water, coffee, tea and afternoon treats. Location was excellent, a short walk to the harbour and all the shops. Lovely garden surrounds the large building, very well taken care of. Pricey, but in line with other accomodations in the area. The best B&B we have stayed in, we would love to return!

Room Tip: Purser's room was great - queen bed, full bath, access to upstairs balcony, personalized AC.

City and Sea - yes, we had both. Our aptly named 'package' started at The Shipwright Inn in Charlottetown - and what a place to start. A tree and garden filled property on a quiet street just a few minutes walk from the downtown core. Our room, with a very tasteful use of antique accent pieces and a king bed, sitting area and full bath was a luxurious treat. And yes, an air conditioner. Breakfasts were decadent and eggs available if you so wish. Our package included tickets to the theatre and a voucher towards the cost of a restaurant meal. The Shipwright was a great place to start our PEI vacation.

I would like to add my strong recommendations for the Shipwright Inn to those already posted here. The Shipwright is an oasis of calm and my favourite place to stay in Charlottetown. For me it’s the little things that make it special. Little things such as interesting books laid out in the rooms for guests to peruse, 24-hour coffee/tea and sweets, separate bowls for the coffee cream and milk portions so I don’t have to dig through the creamers looking for the milk (which is what I usually do) and ricotta buttermilk pancakes with citrus passionfruit cream and maple bacon (not just “pancakes and bacon”) for breakfast. Add to that the friendly servers and a great downtown location so you can walk to everything in Charlottetown.

Room Tip: I had the Navigator's Retreat - huge king bed and separate sitting area; very comfortable.

From the moment of our arrival our experience at this 5-star B&B was pure pleasure. The ambiance created by an authentic period decor was captivating. We were located within easy walking distance of the historic downtown as well as parks and waterfront. Judy & Trevor were gracious and provided excellent direction to restaurants and activities. The breakfasts were beautifully presented and served. Personally we found the bake goods a little chewy although still tasty. We will definitely recommend this B&B to friends and family.

What a romantic b and b with the most authentic period pieces. We stayed in the chart room which was cosy and comfortable. Really enjoyed being able to walk to charlottetown and yet also being able to enjoy a cold lemonade under a tree. Note.. if you are not a big fan of sweets for breakfast you cab request plain eggs and fruit. We did not learn this until day 4!!

Where do I start? Well-appointed rooms, sparkling clean with beautiful gardens in the heart of Charlotttetown and owners and staff that were ultra-attentive to our needs. These folks really touched our hearts. This vacation was a much needed rest for my over-worked and stressed partner. He needed the morning sleep-ins and was not up to breakfast between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. Understanding this, the kitchen prepared a tray for him that he could have in our suite upon rising. This really meant a lot to both of us. I could go on and on. Words just can't do justice to the Shipwright Inn. You have to experience it for yourself and we plan to do so again and again. Oh yes, this Inn is GLBT-friendly.

Room Tip: We had reserved the Tiller Flat for our stay but arrived two days earlier to have a little extra tim...

The Shipwright is a wonderful place to stay. Ideally located in the heart of Charlottetown, walking distance from everything. Judy and Trevor were perfect hosts, superb breakfast and lots of extras.
