“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2009

Nice place to stay, the staff were friendly and helpful. They sugest lots of nice places to eat. They make us feel like we are at home. I stay often and never think to write a review, when reading some of the reviews I can't belive its the same place they are talking about.

Stayed at this hotel during a bachelor party weekend with 10 other guys. It was $160 for three of us who shared a room, which I thought was way overpriced. The best thing about it was the short distance to the casino and the bars. The hotel smelled in the hallways and the room and bathroom were not very clean. IT was basically a high-rise dormitory because it was loud and there were a bunch of people chilling outside the front doors late at night. I didn't really have much of a say in picking the location and I don't know what else was available but I truly hope that this was not the best option.

If the only time you're going to be in the room is after a long night out on the town, then this is the place to go (though I still think it is too pricey for that). IF you're looking for a place to relax in, then avoid.

Friendly staff, the room was ready for me when I checked in, the room had a river view, sofa bed, refrigerator and wired internet connection.
Although the decor was a bit tired, everything was in excellent working order, clean and comfortable.
The hotel does have a large, young clientèle on the weekend, partying in the area bars and clubs. Although they weren't a problem, they were coming in late and this might turn off light sleepers.

Where to start?! The room smelled and was still dirty with trash leftover from a previous occupant. There was even a filthy baseball cap behind a chair. The room was on the so called "corporate" floor but it was so tiny with 2 queen beds. Barely any room to turn around but since it was a one night stay it was ok. I got attitude from more than one staff member behind the front desk when I tried to obtain a parking pass for the day. We found a ripped sheet on one bed... and housekeeping made no attempt to change the sheet the next day and only grudgingly changed the ripped one after being directly asked to. Housekeeping never made up the other bed, did not provide new clean washcloths (we had to ask) and she vacuumed only a small portion of the rug. The tv reception wasn't good either. Very line-y and static-y. There was trash on the floor in the hallway and in both elevators AND there was no soap dish by the bathroom sinks leaving one to place to wet slimey soap on the counter. We attempted to get the complimentary continental breakfast and went down hours before the meal was supposed to be finished and found barely any food and no milk available. **DO NOT STAY HERE**

When I had an interview with the University of Windsor, they put me up in this hotel. I had a city view room, so I didn't get to enjoy the spectacular view of Detroit and the river. The room was clean and decent, nice king sized bed and wood furniture. Was close to the downtown resturants and bars (though I was there on buisness and really didn't get to enjoy any of that). No complaints what so ever, and is exactly what you would expect from a downtown Travelodge.
