2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

It must have been something in its hey day but that day is gone. Cost cutting measures everywhere - no in house restaurant / lounge - except where the continental breakfast is made available - including all disposable and cheap plates/cups/cutlery. Staff are great - hotel is not. Rooms are beyond shabby - a depressing experience.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel because we hadn't been expecting much. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and nice, and there was a good continental breakfast. It was also the quietest hotel room we have even stayed in ---- even my son noticed this. The only suggestion I have is for people to park in the parking garage behind the hotel then walk outside to get to the back of the hotel. Do NOT take the covered walkway because you'll end up in a maze and it will take you much longer to get to your room.

Have stayed here many times while it was a Hilton and enjoyed the valet parking, breakfast, bar, service and rooms. Was probably getting a little dated for Hilton's standards. The room rate for this stay was reasonable and was looking forward to the breakfast. Was hugely disappointed with the breakfast - the sausages were reheated stale, the scrambled eggs where boring the pastries were not fresh at all, English muffin was highlight of the meal. This place has gone to paper plates and coffee cups as well as plastic cutlery. CHEAP LOOKING AND TASTING Not worth it - 2nd morning I went to EGGSMART at the Quality Suites a block behind hotel - that was a breakfast.
This hotel while updated needs to improve its service - most of the staff are gone and it shows - valet parking gone - I don't like the garage behind hotel and it is a walk with luggage. New owners have obviously laid off lost of staff and it shows - my room was spotless and the house keeper was friendly - probably over worked though. you can charge a bit more and HIRE MORE STAFF! May stay here again but Caesars Hotel is just down the street.

Room Tip: Skip the free breakfast - stale and boring - something I would expect at a Days Inn or Econolodge...

Dear JamieV,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments on Trip Advisor, it is much appreciated. We are happy to hear you have continued your patronage of our property after the change over from our days as a Hilton. Despite a change in name, we are still the only hotel in the Windsor-Detroit area which has all 305 rooms facing the river! We would like to thank you for your feedback in regards to our complimentary breakfast buffet. We have been working diligently, and putting plans in place, to improve the overall breakfast experience, and we hope you will join us again to enjoy these updates. We would also like to thank you for your kind words of our Housekeeping Department, and we would like to let you know that your comments have been passed on to the Department Head to share with her team.
Once again, we would like to thank you for taking the time to leave a review on Trip Advisor. We hope to host you again soon!

On Priceline this hotel was also called Riverside Inn which is a bit confusing, however at the price paid this hotel was extremely good value. The older but stylish rooms overlook the river and the hotel is within a ten minute drive of the border crossing which is very convenient.
The bed was very comfy with quality linens and pillows. The place was spotless and very quiet the Wednesday we were there. Even the room doors didn't slam noisily like some hotel doors do. A continental breakfast was included, with cereal, bagels waffles and fruit. No sausages or eggs.
The fitness room has top quality machines with tvs on them and you can get complimentary headsets at the front desk. We didn't use the pool and hotub but they were decent temperatures and a good size. Snack machines and ice are available This is a non smoking hotel according to the person I spoke to when I phoned in advance to check. Free Wi-Fi.

The only down side to this hotel is that you have to park in multi level parking directly behind the hotel. The access is good from the back door and it is well lit and the area seems safe. We paid $7 for an overnight park but it might be a bit more for a longer daily stay.
Friendly staff and very good value. I would stay there again.

.

Room Tip: View of the river was beautiful.

Hi I had stayed there on Oct. 10-11/2014 my room was facing the waterfront as all the rooms in this hotel. The down side I couldn't find much to do except walk about 10 minute to Ceaser's Hotel for the Casino. The breakfast was nice to start my day.

This gives all of our guests the opportunity to enjoy this spectacular view! I stayed for two nights for work and some play and was generally pleased with the hotel. However, I found a strand of hair in the shower before I used it. The breakfast was awful but usually do not expect much from "free" breakfasts anymore as a vegetarian and the parking was a bit inconvenient. The bed and the linens were cozy, comfortable and modern. The view of the Detroit skyline was incredible. The location of the hotel is prime. I would want them to be more meticulous with cleanliness and to fix the parking issue.

I stayed here this past weekend. I grew up in Windsor and had stayed previously at this property when it was a Hilton. Dont be fooled by some of the negative reviews that have been posted here. Also dont be confused with the property next door which is of much lower quality. The room was very good. New carpets and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were clean. The hallways were well lit and had new carpets.Yes the hotel is showing its age. The lobby and reception as well as the public areas could use some TLC. I see comments on here that they may become part of the "Best Western" brand. The overall problem here is that without the marketing muscle of a large brand room rates remain low and re investment in the property slows. That said, would I stay here again-YES.

Room Tip: All rooms face the Detroit River. Not sure if ever floor has been refurbed so make sure you ask at c...
