“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

Stayed for a meeting for one night. Nice, large, clean rooms, comfy king bed. Bathroom was a bit small, but nice. Overlooked the security clearance into Canada from the US, so we could hear people talking all night long, probably security guards, and we were on a higher floor as well. Parking is a bit strange. I signed up for the free Priority Club to get points, and they gave us free water and granola bars in our room, plus Priority parking in nice spaces close to the elevator. Friendly, helpful staff.

Room Tip: My room overlooked the border crossing and I could hear people talking outside all night. Perhaps tr...

The hotel was very centrally located, close to restaurants, the river & the tunnel to Detroit. The on site restaurant was also very good. Other than that, the parking situation at the hotel was a joke - luckily we have a small car! The bathroom was tiny, there was no fan, and it was located right in front of the beds = no privacy. We were there over Halloween, there were a lot of noisy partiers in the hotel, smoking marajuana, spilling drinks & ice in the hallway, etc. Another night there was a loud argument going on at 2am. Not a place to get a good night's rest! The location was good, it seemed clean, beds were comfortable, but all in all not quite what I'd expect from a Holiday Inn.

The room was large and had two (comfortable) beds, a workdesk and TV. Sheets and surfaces were clean. The restaurant downstairs serves breakfast at a very reasonable price. That's about all the good that can be said.

There was supposed to be in-room wireless, but it didn't work on my laptop nor on my phone. In the lobby it sometimes worked. As there was no ethernet cable in the room, I resorted to free downtown Windsor wi-fi, which was not as speedy as I would have liked. The front desk couldn't do anything about it.

The bathroom was clean, I'm pretty sure, but as another reviewer noted, the fixtures looked really gnarly, probably from age. The lightswitch and toilet seat, in particular, looked like they were made of plastic that had seen better days. Water pressure was good in the shower and sink, but the faucets were only loosely secured to the counter itself.

The room itself aside, the hotel's location is excellent, especially for those looking to enjoy Windsor nightlife. Many bars, clubs and restaurants are literally right across the street and more were just short walks away. It's also a short walk to the river, City Hall and the St. Clair Centre for Arts.

I felt everything was clean and functional, but for the price, I expected quite a bit more.

We went to the Windsor Holiday Inn for a quick overnight without the kids. The Staff was extremely friendly, courteous and helpful.

Our room was spacious, immaculate and well appointed. Yes, the bathroom was a little small as others have described, but it was not an issue. Bed was very comfortable. Probably the only complaint was that the room was slightly warm. We could not open window or get outside air to cool down the room and air conditioner would not turn on (It was November).

The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about local eateries. They also gave us cards good for a free desert at Mazaar (another review).

We would go back.

The only downside of our visit (not fault of hotel) is that most of the local clubs are populated by the very, very young (19-21). So if looking to go dancing, may want to look out a little farther.

This was a last minute booking, didn't find the price was worth the stay (but again that's what you get for last minute). Beware that you have to pay for parking in addition to your stay, basically an extra 13$, and you have a truck - ouch tight squeeze. As for rooms, nothing but average, downfall is the paper thin walls - we heard an entire conversation from another room even with our TV on, and no they were not yelling. On the positive it is a convenient location, close to everthing, was a five minute walk to Casino for a quick donation! Staff were excellent and check-in/out a breeze!

The Holiday Inn, downtown Windsor is a great location if you like "nightlife". We were there for a hockey tournament and the street noise was very loud and kept the kids up!

The hotel is overpriced based on age of hotel and amenities. No FREE breakfast in the morning, rooms needed a good spring cleaning (light switch filthy).

For the group of guys, there for a bachelor party, it would be great, for a family. Not so much!
