“Great place to eat if you are part of the 'right' crowd !!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2011

A bit on the "cool hipsters" side but the Beaver serves great coffee/expressos and the food is good but the service can vary in quality.
Decor is bare and a bit 'shabby' but that part of the charm of the place.
One that goes there should have the right expectations, it's not a place for suburbanites or pompous people, the food is good and if you are part of the right crowd, the service will be great.
Nice small back enclosed patio and it's also a fantastic bar on week end !

“Surprise Surprise, we liked it!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

We bought a groupon and checked out the picture of the restaurant on the website, so it looked quaint enugh. When we arrived, we were a bit shocked at how stripped down the restaurant, worn out flooring and seating. I thought my husband was going to insist on leaving, but we sat down and to our surprise we really enjoyed it! He had the lamb burger with goat cheese and I had the smoked chicken quasadias. We both had a great meal accompanied by a lovely little side salad. Pleasant waitress. Thought it was especially suitable for budget minded young people or traveller.

“A Beaver could run a better restaurant”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2009

My husband and I stopped into this tiny restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. The waitress began by listing what items they can run out of (no turkey, no sausage, no French toast etc.) With the choices limited we ordered and waited...and waited. The joy of the open kitchen is you get to hear the wait staff make comments about the patrons. The coffee guy wasn't impressed that I had ordered a tea ("how exciting"). Finally, our food was ready, sitting at the counter. And there is sat for over 5min minutes while the wait staff/coffee guy and 'cook' talked and ate their own food. My husband eventually decided to just pick up the food himself. When we asked for utensils we were told by a snarky waitress that "our waitress normally brings the utensils with our meal." My husband's panni was especially good cold, with all the cheese gelatinous. yum yum It was like pulling teeth to get the bill, they pay, then get our change. The staff just seemed to be too cool to actually work-rather they just sat at the bar eating. Would recommend the Mr. Sub accross the street -better food, better service, probably better atmosphere.
