“Good food..service was meh.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

The Ceasar's are amazing if you like it spicy! I ordered quesadillas and they were good. We had a large group of around 12 people and the waiter would not split up the bill, nor would he accomodate the request for one of the pregnant ladies who wanted part of her meal on the side - when she asked he flung his hands to the side and said "I can't ask them, we are like really busy". The restaurant was really busy, but I do have a hard time with a waiter who advises you that a tip will be automatically added to your bill because of the size of your party, but fail to provide good service. We were among good friends so we had a good time and didn't let the waiter ruin the night. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy.

“Church Street snacks and booze”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

Unlike most bars on Church, HOTD actually serves food... and it's pretty good food too. Nice place to meet for a casual date or a casual dinner or catch up with friends.

“Cosy Gay Pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2012

Awesome selection of beers and very accomodating staff. Great atmosphere with a good mix of younger and middle aged gay men and their friends. Had a wonderful Gumbo with shrimp, sausage, chicken, onions & peppers with a moderately spciely tomato sauce . My guest had the lamb stew which he totally enjoyed. the other guest had the mac and cheese. It looked so good i had to try a bite. Perfect comfort food. The waiter could not have been more pleasant and the bartender was chatting up a storm.

“Good Location, cool atmosphere, great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

A friend and I ate here on a Friday night during my trip to Toronto. The location was very convenient to my hotel and right in the "gayborhood." It was about 9:30 and still fairly full, which is always a good sign.

It's a cool little bistro/bar setting but very comfy for dinner. We started with Poutine (a must for Canada) and I had the pork chop served on mashed sweet potatoes. The pork chop was tender and juicy. It was topped with a nice apple bacon chutney. The mashed sweet potatoes were smooth and slightly sweetened. The fresh vegetable side was very good and included cauliflower - which is unusual but a pleasant surprise. The food was good and the prices were decent. My friend had the Gnocchi and it looked and smelled excellent too.

I'd definitely go back as there were several other entrees I'd like to try.

They also serve brunch - I would imagine it's a cool happening place on the weekends for brunch.
